A true theory of propagation of light did not come until 1865 with James Clerk
Maxwell. Maxwell's theory predicted that both radio waves and the light should
travel at a fixed rate determined. Light waves should travel through the ether
as sound waves make it through the air. Different observers who move relative
to the ether would approach the light at different speeds. In 1887, Edward
Albert Michelson and Morley comparing the speed of light in the direction of
movement of the earth, with the speed of light in the direction perpendicular to
said movement.
compararon la velocidad de
la luz en la direccin del
movimiento de la tierra,
con la velocidad de la luz
en la direccin
perpendicular a dicho
movimiento. Ambas
velocidades eran iguales!.
En 1905, Albert Einstein,

era totalmente innecesaria,

dispuesto a abandonar la
idea de un tiempo
absoluto. Una proposicin
