Objective: To describe the basic ideas and techniques underlying the design of intelligent computer
systems, Introduction to AI and intelligent agents.
Course Module Details
Prerequisites

We will have regular assignments that expect you to be able to read and write
Scheme. This is the only formal pre-requisite.

Course contents

Unit I: Introduction
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Simulation of sophisticated &
Intelligent Behavior in different area problem natural language, automated
reasoning, visual perception (Neural Network), heuristic algorithm, HCI
(Human computer Interface), Expert Systems and fundamental of A.I
Unit II: Problem Solving by Search
Basic Search Algorithm: State space search, Uniformed/Blind Search,
Informed/Heuristic Search, Search Tree and Graph, Search with open list,
Search with closed list, Breadth-first search, Depth-first Search, Uniform
Search Algorithm
Unit III: Problem Reduction by Search
Searching With Cost: Best way to decompose search by parts, Game Tree
Search (Formulation of Chess Paying Program search etc.), Memory bounded
search, Multi-objective Search, Learning how to search with cost
Unit IV: Heuristic Search A and Beyond
Heuristic Search in General, Algorithm A*(give the general Idea)
Unit V: Neural Networks
Introduction to learning, Various techniques used in learning, introduction to
neural networks, applications of neural networks, common sense, reasoning,
some example of expert systems.

Develop small learning systems, predict performance characteristics, and
describe the role of learning in intelligent- system engineering.
Discuss key issues in knowledge representation, problem solving, and
learning.

Tutorial/Optional
Assignments

The purpose of 1 hour tutorial per week is to help the students to explore
points outside the prescribed material and to enhance their learning.
