St. Paul, in his First Letter to the Corinthians, gives some qualities of love.
He says: Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, love I not
pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interest, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (Cor 13:4-7)
Some describes Christian love in the following words:
Christian love is silence when your words would hurt. It is patience when your neighbors curt. It is deafness when scandal flows. It is thoughtfulness for anothers woes. It is promptness when stern duty calls. It is courage when misfortune falls.
Another person speaks of Christian love in this way:
Perfect love is Slow to suspect quick to trust Slow to condemn quick to justify Slow to offend quick to defend Slow to expose quick to shield Slow to reprimand quick to forbear Slow to provoke quick to conciliate Slow to hinder quick to help Slow to resent quick to forgive.
