D.I.A.L (LEEDS) Annual General Meeting 2016
We are changing and need your help to shape the future.
We are writing to invite you or a colleague to the D.I.A.L (LEEDS) 37th
Annual General Meeting which will be held in the Function Hall at St
Chads Parish Centre, Otley Road, Leeds LS16 5JT on Monday 5th
December 2016 at 1.00pm.
Agendas, minutes of the last AGM, Annual Reports and Accounts will be
available on the day to cut down on paper and to keep postage costs to a
minimum.
DIAL (LEEDS) is changing fast and we need your help to shape our
future!
Our Disability Information and Advice Service jointly commissioned
by Adult Social Care and Leeds Clinical Commissioning Groups
(CCGs) will be ending on 31/03/17. The contract will not be renewed
due to budget pressures on statutory services. We realise this news
will come as a big shock to you as it did to us. Fortunately expert
help is on hand to ensure DIAL (LEEDS) survives and thrives.
Your views on what you think we should offer for disabled people in the
future are really important to us. We hope you can attend!
We hold our Annual General Meeting in early December to coincide with
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) United Nations
wording not ours! International Day aims to promote an understanding of
disability issues and to mobilise support for dignity, rights and well being.
It also seeks to increase awareness of the gains derived from the
integration of disabled people in every aspect of political, social,
economic and cultural life. Appropriately this years theme is: Achieving
17 goals for the future we want (which draws attention to the 17 Sustainable
Development Goals).

During the meeting there will be presentations from Leeds University

Business School EMBA Group and Leeds Beckett University Architectural
Technology Department who are key to the future of DIAL (LEEDS)
alongside a range of other individual supporters.

After the AGM there will be refreshments and the opportunity to meet and
chat with DIAL (LEEDS) trustees, paid staff volunteers and supporters.
We look forward to welcoming old friends and new ones alike!
St Chads Parish Centre in situated on Otley Road. There is a good size
car park, but those who are able, may wish to consider using the frequent
number 1 or 6 bus services that stop at St Chads.
The venue has ramped access, an induction loop and unisex wheelchair
accessible toilet. Please let us know if you have any additional access
requirements. It would be helpful for seating arrangements and catering
purposes if you could confirm that you will be attending and whether you
will be bringing someone with you, are a wheelchair user or have an
assistance dog. Please could you also let us know if you have any
specific dietary needs?
