Introduction
As a Quantity Surveyor Should know about the advanced building measurement because of it
is funder mental element for the Quantity surveying cause of education. That is why here in
this assignment is going to be explained about what is understand and what is inside this
successful assignment. First of all
Advance building Measurement is a module in BTEC HND in Quantity Surveying which
gives the preliminary idea on measurement of Drainage, manhole, and plumbing. Other
critical calculations are using in the measurement of works. Suitable drawings are used in a
particular work.
I really appreciate the educational system of Edexcel Dimension sheet is main sheet in bill
preparation. It has time sing, dimension, squaring and description. All the measurement
calculations are done here.
Bill page is described quantity and rate. It will take final cost as works. Waste calculations
are done in description in dimension sheet. Drawings and other details are given in annexes.
Building services measured accordance with SMM7. Select design and apply appropriate
methods and techniques for solutions.
Plumbing and manhole activities carried from given drawings and have taken measurements
through scales.
I have done my final report for the Advance building Measurement by completing the tasks
to achieve my target successfully.

Task 04
4.1 Write typical item description for five selected items for time related charges and
five selected items for method related charges of preliminaries for one of the above
tasks.
24
Telecommunication
The contractor provides all necessary communication facilities throughout the construction to
communicate with the workers, suppliers, supervisors, engineer quantity surveyor etc...
A temporary line is bought and the bills are paid at the end of every month and finally it will
be disconnected on completion of the construction
Fire protection
The Contractor shall be responsible for fire protection on the Site during construction through
the provision of chemical hand-held fire extinguishers and the like. The Contractor shall
ensure that its sub-contractors provide any additional fire extinguishers or similar protection
as made necessary by extreme hazards caused by welding or any other high risk hazards
relating to project works. The Contractor shall replace and make it good.
25
Name board
Prior to the starting of the construction, the constructor will provide the name board because
it provide an outline such as the name of the constructor, name of the project and the name of
the construction company, so that it could be easily identifiable by the others. There was a
cost involved for the creation of the name board.
Site accommodation
The contractor shall provide a site accommodation for the workers. The reason behind this is,
there are workers from different places and far places so for the workers to travel daily may
be difficult and if the constructor fails to do so may lead to delay in construction. The
constructor may provide the workers with small huts with necessary facilities on the first day
and it will be removed at the end of the construction.

Conclusion
Quantity Surveyors always have a major part in construction industry. Because they are
responsible for the measurements and bill of quantities. As a quantity surveyor I have to
familiar with the taking off, preparing BOQ. The owner of a building project is called as
client. To select a contractor, for a building project, clients will call for tenders. And these
tender documents are form of prized BOQ.
So according to this assignment I am able to understand the taking off for reinforced concrete
elements, steel sections and drainage. In this report I have prepared the bill of quantities,
preambles and specifications. These are given according to the SMM7 rules.
Finally I have given the time related charges and method related charges for one of the above
task. Time related charges are always related with time. They are calculated according to the
time period and method related charges are priced according to the method of using that item.
So finally I can gain the knowledge in taking off quantities for structural concrete items in
super structure and sub structure, taking off quantities for steel structures, taking off
quantities for disposal system.
