The Military Education Coordinator serves as the on-site University of Maryland University College (UMUC)
representative responsible for providing academic and administrative support services, community outreach, and
customer relations management. This position reports directly to an Assistant Director. Required duties and
activities are listed below. There will be, at times, site-specific duties that differ from location to location.
Occasional evening/weekend hours and travel are required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
* Provide academic and administrative support services to prospects and students and ensure Quality Assurance
standards are met by being available, knowledgeable, courteous, and responsive
* Document all student contact through UMUC's Customer Relations Management system and schedule
appropriate follow-up activities
* Provide and maintain open and positive communications with host Education Services Officer and related staff
* Participate in and represent UMUC at local Education Fairs, Open Houses, Graduation Ceremonies, and other
events as needed
* Distribute marketing, advertising, and mass media and materials at assigned locations, when permissible
* Create and maintain site-specific outreach plan to attain University goals towards recruitment and student
retention
* Participate in UMUC Staff Meetings, professional development, and training opportunities as required
* Maintain appropriate communication with immediate supervisor and other UMUC staff to ensure timely
resolution of student issues/escalations
* Serve as the local point of contact for the ESO, Education Center staff, and Department of Stateside Military
Operations
* Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning and two (2) years' experience in academic
advising or a customer service industry. Candidates are required to be proficient in Microsoft Office products
(Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc). Candidates with experience in PeopleSoft, Salesforce and document
management systems preferred. Candidates will have strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written
communication skills, and the ability to work responsibly and independently. Candidates with experience in
higher education are preferred.
