Description of the characters and setting (Time and place of the story):

Ulises (Odiseo): He is the main protagonist of the odyssey. He is king of Ithaca Island. He is
one of the heroes of the Trojan War. He is a brave character.
Penlope: She is the wife of Ulises. She was always loyal to Ulises, despite having suitors.
Telmaco: Son of Ulises and Penelope.
Anticlea: She is mother of Ulises. She committed suicide by not bear the absence of his son.
Atenea: She is Goddess of Wisdom. Daughter of Zeus. She is the one who protects Ulises.
Poseidn: God of the sea.
Polifemo: He is a giant, has only one eye. He is the son of the god Poseidon.
Eolo: God of the wind.
Calipso: Goddess of the island of Ogigia.
Circe: She is a sorceress. Circe turned the men of Ulysses into animals.

Summary of the Book:

The odyssey recounts the adventures of return of Ulises to Ithaca, after the Trojan War. Ulises
went to war leaving his wife and his newborn son, but promising that he would return.
The Trojan War lasted 10 years. After the Trojan War. Ulysses and his army decide to return to
Ithaca. But on their journey they had many obstacles. What delayed for 10 years the return of
Ulises.
They were punished by Poseidon. Delaying his trip for 3 years, because blinded his son Polifemo.
Also they were prisoners for 7 years in the island of the Goddess Calipso and a year on the island
of Circe.
Finally wind god Eolo and Atenea helped Ulises to return home. The goddess Atenea disguised
Ulises as a beggar. For what nobody will not recognize when he arrives in Ithaca.
In Itaca, Penelope is harassed by suitors who want to marry her. Because Ulises does not return.
She could not stand more time the absence of Ulysses. And decided to marry with the man who
achieves to cross an arrow by 12 rings with a bow.
The only man who did it was the beggar, that is to say, Ulises. After Ulises killed all the suitors of
Penelope. For having harassed his wife, believing that he was dead.
Finally, Ulises regains his throne and he joined with Penelope after 20 years.
Personal Opinion about the book:
The odyssey tells us about the sacrifices of Ulysses, for returning home. I recommend reading
the book or watching movie of the Odyssey. Because it is a fantastic story.
