Terex advancements
Increased Power
The CR400 Series new turbocharged Cummins diesel engine meets all
Federal EPA and C.A.R.B. Tier 3 emission standards. Featuring a 19%
increase in horsepower, the series delivers more power for full-width
paving. The engines power rating is designed specifically for the
applications faced by the CR400 Series, allowing for more efficient
operation with reduced fuel consumption.

Improved Cooling System

Hydraulically driven by the engines electronic control module (ECM),
the pavers variable speed cooling fan runs only when necessary,
improving efficiency and reducing fuel consumption. The new fan also
decreases noise levels, making for a more comfortable operating
environment.
Integral to the hood, the radiator is easily lifted from the engine
compartment as a single unit for easy servicing. Both sides of the
radiator are quickly accessible for cleaning.

Cleaner Engine Compartment

Cooling air is drawn from above the hood, rather than ground level, for
cleanest air quality. Air drawn into the compartment flows across the
engine and exits through the front grille and sides of the paver, creating
positive air pressure to reduce fine material infiltration. This keeps the
radiator and engine compartment cleaner, allowing the paver to run
cooler.

High Capacities
CR400 Tier 3 Series pavers feature a 38% larger hydraulic reservoir
capacity, extending pump life and offering improved system cooling.
The Terex continuous filtration solution captures particulates as fine
as 5 microns, ensuring reliable hydraulic system operation.
Higher-capacity fuel tanks for all CR400 Series pavers ensure you will
have a full days operation without refueling.

Enhances front-wheel assist

All CR400 Tier 3 Series pavers feature the Terex patented Three-Point
Suspension system, which uses two cylinders to essentially float the
paver over irregularities in the subbase. The suspension system
isolates paver drive system movements from the rest of the paver.
Three-Point Suspension allows for independent up/down rear drive
movement that optimizes the pavers drive system by delivering more
uniform wheel/track loading for maximum tractive effort.

The Frame Raise System employs hydraulic

cylinders to rotate the hub assemblies in a cam-like
action, which raises the rear of the paver.

The system also aids in maintaining both a level screed and consistent
material feed height to the screed when paving on irregular, marginal
base conditions. The end result is a uniform mat with a smooth
surface.
Three-Point Suspension allows paver frame and
screed to remain level even when paving over
irregular road base conditions.

efficient, cleaner operation

Power and Efficiency
The turbocharged 220 hp (164 kW) Cummins QSB5.9 diesel engine
features application-specific powering for improved fuel efficiency. The
Terex exclusive engine basket design allows for easy removal of the
entire assembly. The compact Poly Chain belt pump drives enable the
engine to be mounted in line, lowering sound levels, reducing heat
build-up and offering easier access to components. The pavers
one-piece, power-tilt hood offers unsurpassed access to the engine
compartment for servicing.
A single spring-loaded control console swings to either the right- or
left-hand operator station, delivering exceptional visibility to the sides
of the paver. All paver control areas are grouped by function, and the
consoles are similar for all Tier 3 pavers, so you dont need to relearn
control locations when switching models. Toggle switch and variable
speed auger controls are easily accessible and grouped for quick
familiarization.

Custom-engineered Fume Recovery

Terexs unique system for capturing fumes removes up to 90% of hot
mix asphalt vapors from the screed area, depending on operating
conditions. The fumes are pulled through ductwork to the engines
muffler. The Tier 3 custom-engineered muffler is insulated from the
outside to maintain higher temperatures within the exhaust stack,
while remaining relatively cool on the exterior. These increased inside
temperatures mitigate captured asphalt fumes, which are harmlessly
discharged with engine exhaust.
This unique muffler design also lowers sound levels around the paving
environment for more comfortable operation. The Terex fume recovery
system delivers the most advanced system available for reducing
exposure to hot mix asphalt vapors.

Patented Remix Anti-segregation System
The Terex CR452RX and CR462RX pavers with the Remix AntiSegregation System offer the lowest cost solution to material and
thermal segregation. Twin, counter-rotating augers thoroughly reblend
100% of the asphalt and uniformly pull the mix from all areas of the
hopper. A constant 10 in (254 mm) diameter with variable pitch auger
design delivers more face surface area throughout the entire shaft
length for increased throughput.
A single hydraulic motor with a pant-leg gearbox drives each set of
Remix augers, eliminating the need for flow dividers and chain drive.
This design delivers more efficient use of available engine horsepower.
The gearboxes ensure that the two augers work in sync for more
uniform material flow.
Independently controlled right/left hand feed systems and delivery
spread augers increase paving versatility by allowing the operator to
control the feed rate to either side of the screed. The system interlocks
stop feed when the paver stops.

Heavy-duty Slat Conveyor and Auger System

Terex standard paver delivery systems offer the confinement necessary
to ensure a high-quality, long-lasting mat. Standard baffles at the end
of the conveyor and on the auger drive gearbox do not allow the mix
to cascade to the spreading auger and under the gearbox, reducing
aggregate segregation to avoid top-down cracking.
Heavy-duty 1.5 x 3 in (38 x 76 mm) slat bars with 3.1 in (78 mm) pitch
offset link roller chain and 8-tooth slat drive sprocket enable the
CR400 Series pavers to stand up to the pressures of big jobs. The
Series large 14-ton (12.7 t) hopper capacity enables high-production
paving.

Heavy-duty components for long life

Automatic conveyor controls let the operator concentrate on backing

trucks and not the feed systems, while No Material Flow indicator
lights avoid emptying the feed system of mix. By setting proportional
feed control to automatic, the paver maintains a constant, uniform
head of material in front of the screed. An available sonic feed control
uses sound pulses to measure and maintain feed height at the screed.
