Reading Comprehension (10 marks)

Read the story and answer the questions.
Mahsuri was the only daughter of Mak Lang and Pak Andak. They lived
on Langkawi island. Mahsuri grew up to be a very beautiful woman.
Soon Mahsuri married Wan Darus, the village warrior and brother to the
chieftain. They lived happily. Wan Mahora, wife of the chieftain, Datuk Seri
Karma Wijaya, was jealous of Mahsuris popularity. She was always trying to
send Wan Darus off to war. When there was trouble from the Siamese
borders, she persuaded her husband to send the strong Wan Darus to defend
the state.
As soon as Wan Darus left, Wan Mahora immediately spread rumours
about Mahsuri. She said that Mahsuri was not faithful to her husband. One
day, a group of women saw Mahsuri and Deramang, a handsome stranger,
talking and laughing at the market. They believed that Wan Mahora was right
about Mahsuri. The villagers accused Mahsuri of being unfaithful to her
husband. Mahsuri, who was heavily pregnant, said she was innocent.
Even Datuk Seri Karma Wijaya believed in his wifes lies. He blamed
Mahsuri for the recent hardships the villagers suffered. He told the villagers
that Mahsuri and her unborn child should die so that Langkawi could be
release from even more hardship.
Mahsuri calmly accepted her fate. Datul Seri Karma Wijaya then quickly
stabbed Mahsuri. To everyones shock, white blood flowed from her neck.
This was a sign that Mahsuri was innocent. As she was dying, Mahsuri put a
