Working with a small group of four-year-old children five days a week to prepare them for
Kindergarten.
Planning and implementing lessons designed around early childhood domains and student

Collaborating with the Site Administrator, ECE director, fellow educators, and parents to create a
successful learning program.
As a guide, my role was to teach participants the skills needed for them to create micro
societies within their trip. Skills included LNT camp set up, decision-making, outdoor safety
skills, planning, and navigation.
Worked alongside nearby Camp Lookout staff to facilitate outdoor learning experiences with
their campers.

Worked alone and with other Aides to create personalized Team Building programs for groups
between 10 and 100+ members. These groups ranged in age from 9 years old to adult
employees of the university.
Programs included Day Camp, Group Initiatives, Low Challenge Courses, and High Challenge
Courses.
As an Outdoor Instructor starting in November 2016 I co-led adventure trips for Miami
University.

The Association for Experiential Education (AEE) exists to connect a global community of educators
and practitioners and expand their capacity to enrich lives through Experiential Education. As an
attendee I participated in various experiential education focused seminars including: Outside Your
Door: Young Producers Bridge the Divide between Urban Youth and Public Lands by Nina Roberts ,
Creativity in Teams by Amy Climer, and Facilitating Storytelling as a Clinical Intervention by Maurie
Lung and Gary Stauffer.

Student Teacher
This experience was a full time internship commitment during which I worked alongside my
cooperating teacher, Ms. Talbert, in and out of the classroom. During my time as a student teacher I
was able to; understand and utilize students backgrounds in lesson planning, articulate clear
learning goals for classroom lessons, assist students in making connections between contents, align
instruction with learning goals, establish and maintain connections with students, provide a safe
environment that was conducive to learning, assist students in understanding learning objectives,
create room for students to extend their thinking, effectively use instructional time, collaborate with
colleagues during Team Based Teaching Meetings an IEP meetings, communicate with parents
during conferences, and reflect on how well my lessons worked to help students achieve learning
goals so that I may improve future lessons.

During this non-profit internship, for which I received the Horrell Award, I had the opportunity to
shadow home visitors in the field as well as aiding them in the completion of observations, attend
team meetings, participate in and plan play groups, create home visiting resources, and plan
community outreach.
Cincinnati Summer Immersion Program

During this three-week urban residential experience in the Lower Price Hill neighborhood of
Cincinnati I was able to connect with community stakeholders through volunteer experiences in
urban agencies (BLOC, Nancy Sullivan, Community Matters, and Education Matters) in Price Hill. I
lived with three other participants in Price Hill. Alongside the immersion experiences I participated
in weekly seminars that will focused on specific aspects of urban communities through discussions,
readings, activities and journaling.

Adopt A School
December 2014 Volunteer
January 2013-
As a tutor with Adopt A School I volunteered an hour of my time each week to work with a local
classroom teacher during the school day. This time was spent working with individual students as
well as small groups to complete various activities. During my second year of participation I was
elected to Student Coordinator and was put in charge of overseeing 15-20 tutors, ensuring that
they were attending placements and communicating with their cooperating teachers as necessary.

New Zealand, South Island. 5 day, 3 day, and 2 day backpacking trip, 2 day mountain biking
trip, 2 day sea kayaking trip, and ice climbing. May 13th- June 11th 2013
North and South Manitou Islands, Michigan, U.S. Acted as an apprentice guide for children
ages 11-16 years old on a variety of trip lengths during the months of June and July 2016.
Hobbies
Reading has been a stalwart hobby of mine. Recently Ive been interested in:
WaitButWhy.com articles by Tim Urban, texts written by sociologist Ashley Montagu,
information about the effect of learning spaces, the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and
Ive been slowly reading Deleuze and Guittaris texts because of their discussion of
Rhizomatic learning theory.
