4.0

RESPONSIBILITY
4.1

The Project Manager, Construction Manager, Station Manager (Project


Specific) Via-Duct DPM, Casting Yard In charge, P& M In charge, SubContractors assisted by the site engineers , Foremen & EHS Manager /
Officer / Supervisor shall ensure that the following requirements.

4.2

Placement of the rig to be ensured and the compaction of the soil to be


hard and stable.

4.3

Any deviation in the soil hardness sand bags to be layed and MS steel
plate to be placed over the sand bags.

4.4

Rigs placed must be checked on daily places by the Rig Operator, P&M
Personnel, and cross check by EHS Manager / Officer / Supervisor and to
be counter signed with name and designation of EHS Personnel.

4.5

Proper maintenance of the rig to be done with safe working sticker and the
operator should maintain all legal documents required and keep ready for
inspection.

4.6

Pilling area / Bored area must be adequately barricaded and covered with
locking pins / welded so that the covering provided will not move. And it is
the responsibility of the Site Execution team and EHS Manager / Officer /
Supervisor to ensure throughout the activity.

4.7

Pile cap area to be adequately barricaded with rail and it should a


standard height of 1.20 Meters height with midrail and top rail.

4.8

Adequate warning signage to be provided with flashing lights to alert


working crafts and other stake holders.

4.9

Adequate access and egress to be provided for all pile cap works and
during rebar works adequate space to be provided for the worker /
workers working inside the pile cap.

4.10

Adequate supervision must be ensured throughout the activity by site


execution team and EHS / Manager / Officer / Supervisor.

4.11

As a contingency Gas Cutting set along with Fire Extinguisher must be


kept stand by which can be used to cut the rebar and pull out the victim
from the pile cap area in case of an emergency situation arises

4.12

First Aid Box must be kept available at the nearest spot of the activity.

Safe practices and guide lines must be adopted whilst pier alternative
steel placing works and should be ensured by Site Execution Team, SubContractors & EHS Manager / Officer / Supervisor.

4.14

Scaffolding provided at the pier must erect by competent erectors and


ensured by Scaffolding Certified Supervisors, Site Team Members and
EHS Manager / Officer / Supervisor.

4.15

PTW system to be adopted for any alteration done for scaffold or removal
of scaffold. And without adequate supervision no activity should take
place.

4.16

Rated Guy ropes and anchored fastener bolts to be provided on four sides
of the pier and checked on daily basis by Site Team, Sub-Contractors and
EHS Personnel. Any deviation found to be rectified immediately.

4.17

Adequate access and Egress with working plat form and railing to be
provided for gaining pier works. Ladder provided must be adequately
anchored at three places minimum and it should be in 1:4 ratio.
Staircase provided must be inspected on daily basis and the anchoring of
stair case at minimum three places.

4.18

Good housekeeping practices to be adopted by the Site Execution Team,


Subcontractors and EHD Manager / Officer / Supervisor by trailer made
checklist and ensure to remove all un wanted material and removal of
construction debris periodically from the site.

4.19

Contingency plan must be made by the Site Execution Team and EHS
Manager / Officer / Supervisor by keeping a crane or hydra in standby to
use whilst emergency situation arises.

TRAINING
5.1 EHS Manager / Officer / Supervisor must brief the working crafts about
associated risks whilst pilling works, pile cap works & Pier works that
including concreting works. During Tool Box Talks, In House Training, Mass
Tool Box and Dynamic HIRA etc and to be recorded and review.
