The current work assesses the constitutive laws performance for steel fibre reinforced
concrete (SFRC) in tension with regard to moment strength of SFRC beams appraised
through flexural models. For that specific purpose, four theoretical models are
investigate, two of them with empirical features describing their constitutive laws, ACI
544.4R-88 and CECS 38 (2004), and another ones, RILEM TC 162-TDF (2003) and
CEB-FIP (2010), with laws based in residual strength fRi concept, which are
determined by tests. A database (DB) was collected from the literature to perform the
analysis and the parameter = mR,exp/mR,teo has been taken as performance index,
where mR,exp and mR,teo represent respectively the moment strength recorded
experimentally (DB) and evaluated by the models. Herein the safe results have been
predominated. However, the most accurate models have their constitutive laws written
in terms of fRi. In these circumstances it was judged advisable to use models with
empirical laws just in pre-design/analysis estate.
