Lets Be Doers for Thanksgiving!

One day a young man approached Mother
Teresa and asked why she always talked about
this Jesus stuff. He said to her, Im going to
work among the poor like you. Ill do the good
works of charity, but without the Jesus baggage.
Mother Teresas response was, Go and work 20
years or a lifetime among the poorest of the poor.
Then come back and tell me how you did it. I
know that the only way I have been able to do it
is because of Jesus.
Her faith, her
understanding of Jesus gave her the ability to be
a doer, a doer not just for a week or a season or
a year, but for a lifetime.
Its the Thanksgiving season at Dearborn
Congregational Church and we have work to do!
Jesus calls us to do it! He is challenging us to help the needy in our community.
we do what we must! Give what we can. We are doers for the holiday!

So

Its the Thanksgiving season at Dearborn Community Church. Thanksgiving baskets

and Jesus! This year, lets do something different. Lets work PAST November
24th and be doers of the Word for a year or lifetime!
The prophet Micah put it this way: ... do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with
thy God. We have work to do and Jesus calls us to it!
From our house to yours, have a blessed Thanksgiving!

A PEEK AT THE SUNDAY SERMON

November 27th is The First Sunday of Advent. You may be wondering what A
Charlie Brown Christmas and the Sunday sermon have in common.
Ill be sharing a story about the
making of this Christmas special
and how it relates to the Gospel
of John 1:9-3.
9 The

one who is the true light, who

gives light to everyone, was coming into
the world.
10 He came into the very world he
created, but the world didnt recognize
him. 11 He came to his own people, and
even they rejected him. 12 But to all who
believed him and accepted him, he gave
the right to become children of
God. 13 They are rebornnot with a
physical birth resulting from human
passion or plan, but a birth that comes
from God.

Responses and Christmas this is the theme of the Sunday sermon!

Getting Ready for His Return!

Matthew 24:36-44 is the suggested daily Bible reading for Sunday, November 27th
(2016 U.C.C. Calendar). In this passage Jesus teaches his followers that they need
to be ready for His return!
36 However,

no one knows the day or hour when these things will

happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the
Father knows. 37 When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in
Noahs day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were
enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time
Noah entered his boat. 39 People didnt realize what was going to
happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way
it will be when the Son of Man comes.
40 Two

men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. 41 Two women will be
grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left. 42 So you, too, must keep watch! For you dont
know what day your Lord is coming. 43 Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was
coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44 You also must be ready all the
time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
Paraments and altar linens have been changed to VIOLET. This is the color
of royalty to welcome the coming of a King! Advent is a season of spiritual
preparation for the celebration of the birth of Christ (Christmas) and looks
forward to the future reign of Jesus.
