Abstract

Impact of snow cover on climat e in

lying surface condit ion and t he air heat condit ion. It

large scale is a major project in the earth sciences.

Dat a analysis and numerical simulat ions show t hat the

is w ell know n t hat t he monsoon relates t o t he heat

conditions of t he underlying surf ace. So it is cert ain

anomalies of snow cover area and the durat ion of snow

t hat the snow cover anomaly w ould af fect t he summer

the end of t he Asian summer monsoon. If the snow

It seemed easy to understand on the physical as-

snow cover on the plateau and t he Asian summer

sponding precipitation belt is still an unresolved problem. It is necessary to cumulate quality snow cover

monsoon precipitat ion, because snow cover is one of

data and to enhance the underst anding of the mon-
