Question 1
Consider a schematic diagram of an electric drive for locomotive traction shown in Figure 1
where throttle position is set by moving an input potentiometer. The output of generator is
proportional to the field current.
a)

Assuming the following constants, write all the related equations of the system and draw
the corresponding block diagram for each sub-system.

b)

Ka = amplifier gain constant

Kt = tachometer constant

Kg = generator constant

Km = motor torque constant

Kb = back e.m.f. constant

Kp = input potentiometer constant

J = inertia friction

(Ts).
