TUBING INTRODUCTION

PORT PLASTICS sells a wide variety of tubing products made from a broad
range of polymers. These products are capable of conveying the vast range
of liquids used in the industrial, laboratory, food handling, medical and
biotechnical fields.
Products are available which are designed to handle higher pressures,
temperatures and harsh chemicals. Some products, such as certain PTFE
tubing products, are available with inside diameters approaching the size of
a human hair.
Many of PORT PLASTICS tubing products can be customized to meet the
needs of a specific application. Custom marked, colored, or striped products
can be supplied. Multi layered tubing products are available to combine key
properties of different resins.
Port Plastics is pleased to feature the complete range of standard Tygon

High Purity - Tubing

Tygon High Purity - Tubing

Formulation 2275
Provides an uncompromising fluid path for sensitive solutions
Low sorption maintains fluid integrity
Plasticizer-free virtually no extractables
Environmentally friendly safe to dispose of through incineration
Documented biocompatibility to the ISO 10993 Standard
Meets USP Class VI, FDA and NSF criteria
Tygon High Purity Tubing is ideal for handling
sensitive fluids such as pharmaceutical or biological solutions. There is virtually no absorption of
key fluid constituents into the tubing material or
fluid adsorption onto the tubing walls. As a result,
fluid alteration and loss is limited. There is no
plasticizer to leach into or contaminate the fluid,
yet the tubing remains flexible.
Tygon High Purity Tubing can be sterilized by
radiation, ethylene oxide, steam or chemical

Nylon - Tubing

Nylaflow and Polypenco

Nylaflow Nylon tubing is high quality pressure tubing, available in five formulations
and a wide range of diameters. For applications that require toughness, resilience, a
small bend radius, and high burst strength, Nylaflow pressure tubing is a high performance, long-lasting alternative to copper, rubber aluminum, and other types of plastic
tubing. Nylaflow tubing is available with custom markings and cut to length.
Types:
Types T and H Nylaflow tubing are thin and heavy wall, general purpose tub
ing made from 6/6 Nylon. These types offer the highest strength and are FDA
compliant for use in food or beverage handling applications.
Type LP Nylaflow tubing is a low cost, low pressure, general purpose type 6
nylon tubing. It is heat and light stabilized.
Type LM Nylafow tubing is a premium high flex tubing available in two
types: natural or black, which exhibits improved heat and light stability. Type LM
offers excellent chemical resistance and low moisture absorption.
Polypenco Nylon 101 mechanical grade tubing is designed for very low pressure liquid transmission or for purely mechanical functions. It is an extremely tough, low friction,

Fluoropolymer - Tubing

Chemfluor 367 Scientific Grade Tubing

Superior clarity and surface smoothness as compared to other fluoropolymers
Very low extractables with deionized water and acids
Resistant to virtually all chemicals
Excellent mechanical properties

Chemfluor Scientific Grade Tubing is ideally suited for

applications where the process is dependent on maintaining fluid integrity. This unique fluoropolymer tubing
outperforms tubing made from traditional or high-purity
PFA resins. Its surface smoothness is up to six times
smoother, reducing risk of cross-contamination,
improving product yields and helping to ensure
thorough cleaning cycles. Independently conducted
extraction testing shows Chemfluor Scientific Grade
Tubing to have one of the lowest parts-per-billion
counts of trace metals.

Engineered for superior clarity and high

purity, Chemfluor Scientific Grade Tubing
outperforms traditional fluoropolymer tubings
in applications where fluid integrity is critical.

With its exceptionally smooth surface, low extractables, superior clarity, excellent
chemical resistance, outstanding mechanical properties, and a working temperature
range of -400F (-240C) to 450F (232C), Chemfluor Scientific Grade Tubing can be
used in virtually any application where maintaining high purity is critical.

Suggested Installation Instructions

Select nearest nominal diameter larger than
desired size. Choose lengths based on
approximate 3% shrinkage in length. Allow an
additional 2 or 3 inches in length for end cuffs.
Scissors or a sharp utility knife can be used to
cut the tubing. The part to be covered should
be clean and dry. Slip tubing over part to be
covered. For critical applications, care should
be taken not to nick or gouge tubing.
To shrink tubing onto part, apply 250F to
400F, depending on application. This can be
done by using a hot air oven or an 18-amp
commercial hot air gun. It is recommended
that two hot air guns (one on each side of
roller) be used. The roller and tube should be
uniformly rotated while applying heat.
