Voltage presence indicating system for MV switchgear

The IPT21/22 unit complies with standard HN 64-S-52: AC metalenclosed switchgear for rated voltage of 24 kV, unaffected by
environmental conditions.
The IPT21/22 unit incorporates a voltage presence indicator
designed to provide dry contacts specifying the presence or
absence of MV voltage.
This product is designed to be integrated in the LV compartment
of MV switchgear:
for FBX type with 24 pF nominal lead capacitor, the suitable
variant is IPT21
for RM6 type with 30 pF or SM6 type with 38 pF nominal lead
capacitor, the suitable variant is IPT22
The information feed back comes from the lead capacitor on the
L2 phase in the MV switchboard, via a VPIS V2 with VO output:
reference VPI62416, for the IPT21;
reference VPI62417, for the IPT22.

Delivery kit
The package includes the IPT21/22 unit and its technical manual.
Entirely made of plastic, the enclosure is rated IP20 and needs no
special remark for its handling.

Installation
The unit simply clips onto a standard A or B format DIN rail (the
module width corresponds to two units wide).
It can only be installed in the cubicle LV compartment.

Lead capacitors

The IPT21/22 unit is supplied with power by a low power source

external to the MV switchgear: 35 to 56 V DC power supply.
Terminals 11 and 12 are dedicated to this power supply.
The power supply has a monitoring circuit, which activates the
standby mechanism if the voltage drops below around 35 V DC to
avoid deep discharge of the batteries supplying the power.
On energisation, the microcontroller analyses the voltage from
lead capacitor, image of the MV voltage present at the cubicle.
If the voltage is below 1.2 kV, it sets the output contact to rest
mode. If the voltage is above 4 kV, it sets the output contact to
working mode. The response time on crossing a threshold is
always less than 150 ms.
In the event of a power failure, the output contact remains in the
same state as before the failure.
When the power returns, the output contact is activated if the
MV voltage is higher than 1.2 kV. Nominal operation is once more
assured if the MV voltage falls below the 1.2 kV threshold or
increases above 4 kV.
The 1.2 kV and 4 kV thresholds remain unchanged for the 10 kV,
15 kV or 20 kV networks.
The information provided by the switchgear lead capacitor should
be connected to terminals 1 and 2, via the VPIS V2 and an adaptor
cable reference RCL62454. At the output of this adaptor cable, cut
the two unnecessary wires corresponding to phases L1 and L3.
Connect the earth to terminal 1 and the L2 wire to terminal 2 of the
IPT21/22.
The NO/NC relay is available on terminals 7, 8 and 9.
The latching relay contacts of voltage presence/absence are
available on terminals:
7- voltage presence
8- common
9- voltage absence
The following 3 groups of signals are galvanically isolated from
one another:
auxiliary power supply (terminals 11 and 12)
MV input (terminals 1 and 2)
output contacts (terminals 7, 8 and 9)
