Step 1 Browse BIQ files target folder

You need to set an existing folder. The generated BIQ files will be created in this folder.

Step 2 Setup database connection

You can set the AVRDATA database connections with this button. You need enter the connection
string, which the software can connect to an existing AVReporter database.

Step 3 Generate Template

You need a software specific Excel template to set BIQ report settings. To create a clear template
click on Generate Template button in a new, clear Excel workbook.

Step 4 Add more BIQ file headers

If you need more BIQ file as target of the generation process, then select an empty row in
Expressions sheet, and press the Add BIQ File Separator button.

Fill the row cell values to set the target file settings: BIQ file name, RDLC file name. The BIQ files
will be generated to folder, that you set on Step-1.

Step 5 Set the variables

Navigate to variables sheet and select the A2 cell (the first data row of the template sheet).

Open the list of devices with the Device Tree button and select & double click on quantity node.

The selected quantity is added automatically to worksheets selected row.

You can add unlimited number of quantities. In this demo I add 3 quantities to Variables
worksheet:

The Variable Name column can be edited arbitrarily. Set your own variable names.

Step 6 Create Expressions


Navigate to Expressions sheet and select the A3 cell (the first data row of the template sheet).

Enter the expression name in A3 cell, for example: Expression1.


Enter the expression string in C3 cell with Excel functions. In most cases you can use the
CONCATENATE excel function to create expression strings. For example:
Sum of Variable1 and Variable2:
C3 cell value

CONCATENATE(Variables!A2;"+";Variables!A3)

Result: Variable1+Variable2

You can use previous expression strings to new expressions:


C6 cell value

CONCATENATE(C3;"+";Variables!A4)

Result: Variable1+Variable2+Variable3

Step 7 Generate BIQ files

If the expressions are ready, you can generate all of BIQ files to file system with the Generate
BIQs button.

Check the generation result in task panel:

Step 8 Open the BIQ files in Business Intelligence module

You can see the content of the generated BIQ file and you can execute the report.
