Vela Sports and Athletics (VSA) is a Mbombela based local sports clothing brand. It is a 100% black youth owned brand
with a global vision.
VSA was inspired by Africa for Africans. It is a brand which we would like to see dominating through the continent of
Africa, as it is a brand from Africa for Africa. We realise that we cannot have hopes of dominating Africa if we cannot get
our own home city to rally behind us. Which is why we have started initiatives such as Adopt-A-League with VSA, an
initiative which invites local business, working with VSA, to adopt a Soccer, Netball, Rugby or Hockey league and
purchase VSA branded kits with anchor space on the front bottom, open for marketing of said business. This initiative
will encourage local youth to take an interest in sports from an early age making it fashionable through the excitement of
a formalised uniformed league in their own area.
Other additional benefits to this initiative include, as part of the agreement with the different teams in the league, a
mandatory clean up in the area which the team is from. We pick a school or local community centre and clean it up with
the team in the preferred branded items of clothing of the said business. This initiative will be beneficial to all, the team,
business, community as well as VSA. With benefits far outreaching brand awareness. Such initiatives are the core values
of VSA, challengers of the game.

driven by a high demand for stylish, versatile and functional garments.

about 14% of manufacturing employment and represented South Africa's second
largest source of tax revenue, the industry facilitates an estimated 120 000 jobs
and contribute around 8% to the country's GDP.
recent reports have said that manufacturers are benefiting from retailers growing
demand for locally made goods as the need for fast fashion takes hold. In order
to keep up with the latest trends, retailers have shorter lead times from design to
delivery. This has contributed to the statistics that show as much as 25% to 30% of
locally sold clothing is manufactured domestically.
