OUTCOMES FROM ALBERTA PROGRAM OF STUDIES

Math 10C
Develop spatial sense and proportional
reasoning.

Math 10-3

M3. Solve problems, using SI and imperial

units, that involve the surface area and
volume of 3-D objects, including:
right pyramids
right cones

M1. Demonstrate an understanding of the

System International (SI) by:
describing the relationship of the
units for length.
Applying strategies tp cpnvert SI
units to imperial units.
M2. Demonstrate an understanding of the
imperial system by:
Describing the relationships of the
units for length.
applying strategies to convert
imperial units to SI units.
Solve and verify problems that
involve SI and imperial decimal and
fractional measurements.

Develop spatial sense and proportional

reasoning

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will:
1. Find the surface area of right
pyramids and right cones
2. Find the volume of right pyramids
and right cones.

Students will:
1. Convert length measurements from
imperial to metric units.
2. Solve problems by converting from
imperial to metric units of length.

10Cs: 1.4 Practice Quiz
Student Accommodations: Students will only have to
get done as much as possible It is just for me to see how
we are doing with the surface area problems. Formulas
will be provided at the top of the quiz and I will provide
diagrams for all students.
10-3s: Notes/Making Study Guide
20
- I will ask students to take out a piece of loose leaf.
minutes
We are going to make a study guide.
Student Accommodations: I will use a lot of diagrams
to help students visualize the problems. Students will be
welcomed to use their calculator. Students will also be
given a formula sheet (conversion charts) to help them
go through examples.
- Ensure that students are raising their hands to

- Some students may find it beneficial to use

highlighters in their notes.

Students who are not meeting expectations will be
given verbal warning.
10-3s: Practice Test
Students will begin to work on their practice test
Student Accommodations: Students are welcome to
use their notes a conversion chart and their calculators
to complete the problems. Mrs. Senneker will arrive
partway through the class to help the students work on

aware that this is not for marks, but I do not want to see
hwo they did so I know what to review tomorrow.
Student Accommodations:. Students will be
welcomed to use their calculator. Students will also be
given a formula sheet (conversion charts) to help them
go through examples. Mrs. Senneker will also be
available to assist struggling students.
- Students who do not follow expectations will be
recorded on the behavior tracker and talked to after
class if necessary.
- As students work, walk around to check
