PHYSICAL EDUCATION HANDBOOK

HAPPY, HEALTHY AND FIT

Dear Parents,
Welcome to another exciting year at AEW Middle School. Physical Education has a
direct bearing on a students physical, mental and social well-being. A child well educated
physically is likely to become a healthy adult who is motivated to remain healthy. The
healthy, physically active student is more likely to be academically motivated, alert and
successful.
Healthy physical activity is an integral part of the self-concept and ability of a child to take
on new intellectual, social and emotional challenges. Please encourage your child to take
part in Physical Education to the best of their ability and let them know how important it is
to their overall success and well-being.
Our program focuses on safety, cooperation, sportsmanship, skill acquisition, fitness
and movement knowledge all learned through a variety of challenging activities and based
on California state standards. Some of these activities throughout the grade levels include:
hockey, circus skills, paddle tennis, cricket, dance, racquetball, volleyball, takraw, rock
climbing, lacrosse, over the line, team handball, badminton and track and field.
We are looking forward to a safe and exciting year. Please feel free to contact us at: 818
