Cello
The history of the cello begins
with the bass violin! One factor
that effect the size of the bass
violin was the wire wound string
(allowing the instrument to be
smaller). The cello was at first
placed on the floor to play, then
people ended up using their legs
to hold it off the floor! Eventually,
they advanced to using end pins
to hold the instrument up!
Double Bass
The Double Bass is the largest
instrument of these four! It actually
used to take 2 people to be able
to play. Eventually, they made it
small enough for one person to
be able to play. The Double Bass
The range for the violin starts for g0, d1, a1, to e2. The overall
length for violin is 23 1/8. The viola range is c0, g0, d1, a1. The length for
this is 27 1/8.The cello is C0, G0, d0, and A0. The length for this is 48
1/4. Lastly, the range for double bass is E1, A1, D0, G0, and C0. The
final overall length for the double bass is 74 1/2. !

Care, Maintenance,
and String
Replacement
The bow is very fragile, so always
make sure that it is handled with
care. Only the teacher and
student should be able to handle
it!
