Application
Declsive for the success is the projectlon of an extreme bright plcture and
of most brilliant colours. To achieve th s goal, it was necessary so far to
reduce the general ambient brightness, for instance by switchlng-off the room
light, or by subdueing the dayllght.
HALOS metal halide lamps HCI 400 W offer an outstanding progress: They
make possible a brill ant projection w thout reduction of the amb ent brlghtness,
even at incidence ot daylight.
Please note: The lamps are covered by a warranty only when the auxiliary
HALOS metal halde lamps are d scharge lamps des gned for operation
on
A. C. High uminous efficiency (80 m,'W), long life, sturdy lamp structure, and
srnal d mensions are the essentia features of these amps.
Technical Data
The amps contarn a combination of various meta haiides for the qeneraton
of ight. The rod-shaped tungsten electrodes are arranged dlametral y in the
dlscharge vessel of quartz glass. For therma reasons, molybdenum rlbbons
sea ed in quartz glass are used as cLrrrent eads. Connected hereto are w res

which on both ends are bent in a rjght ang e. They serve as cLrrrent conductors
and as support, since the lamps have no bases.

the

Since HCI lamps produce ultravio et radiatjon, they must only be operated
ln sultable housings which prevent the operation of an unshie ded lamp.
The mode of light generation requires a certa n warrn-up per od. Approximately
30 seconds after starting, about 800/o of the final value of uminous flux w ll
be reached.
The colour temperature of HCI 400 W s between 4500 and 6500 K. The graph
be ow shows the d stribut on curve of the spectral radiance. The n'rain advan
tage of the lamp s the high um nous efficiency of 80 m,/W.
