Description
The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, identified as About Me in the site-specific questionnaire
battery, is a well-known measure of self-esteem. Each of the 10 items is rated on a 4-point scale
ranging from 1 = strongly agree to 4 = strongly disagree. A self-esteem score is calculated after
reversing the positively worded items.
Modification: The item order was changed for administration to study participants.
Administration: 54 months
This measure was administered to mothers at 54 months (n = 89) during the common protocol
lab visit.
Scoring: Rosenberg (1965)
Mean item score: -1, -2, 3, -4, 5, -6, -7, 8, 9, 10. A higher score indicates greater self-esteem.
