Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you to express my interest in the now open position of Geotechnical Intern at Whitman
Requardt & Associates, LLP. I am a graduate student of Civil Department at the University of Maryland
College Park, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering. My passion for Geotechnical Engineering has
led me to apply for the subject position at Whitman Requardt & Associates, LLP.
After, completing engineering in Civil Engineering, I started working as a Site Engineer in R.K
Constructor, Nashik, India. I thoroughly enjoyed my work at RK constructors and as a site engineer I
was responsible for the construction work according to the given plans and specifications. At A. James
Clark School of Engineering, UMD, I have been studying the advanced Geotechnical and at the same
time I am also increasing my knowledge in the usage of Finite Element Analysis in Soil Mechanics by
working on an academic project where I am studying the Soil-Structure interaction effect by using
ANSYS and PLAXIS Software.
Owing to my background as a Site Engineer I bring to the table a deep understanding of managing the
construction work. I also had a good experience in handling the soil testing equipments as well as
writing a good soil investigatory report. Lastly, I would like to mention that my professional experience
has prepared me to be a good communicator when it comes to interact, formally and informally, with
clients and in house project teams as a day to day activity. I am sure it will help me a lot in performing
well as an Intern in the Geotechnical Team as well.
I firmly believe that I would be the right candidate for the position of Geotechnical Intern at Whitman
Requardt & Associates, LLP as I do have necessary skills and passion to be an outstanding performer
in this role. I would be thrilled to have an opportunity to work with the expert Geotechnical Engineers
at Whitman Requardt & Associates, LLP and most importantly, learn from them.
