Observation Task 1: Environmental Print in the Classroom.

Examples of Environmental Print

H00298056

English alphabet board.

Purpose

Arabic alphabet crafts

Ideas for further development

Identify the letters for

the children and the
animals that begins with
the first sound of each
letter. For example, the
letter (g) is for giraffe.
Children increase their
knowledge about the
numbers of letters and
the letters shape.
Teacher use this board
in explaining phonics to
children.

Children recognize the

Arabic letters and
sounds.
Children identify the
different between the
Arabic and English
letters. Such as, the
numbers of letters, the
pronunciation, and the
shape of the letter.
Teacher can use the
crafts in explaining the
lesson.

English sentence board.

Children practice read

the sentences with the
teacher in the in
individual accessing.
Children practice
writing the sentences in
the areas time.

Document the children

work by letting them
trying to attach the letters
they know.
Provide a board for each
group of children to try
arranging the letters and
the theme or the pictures
that goes along with the
letter.

Its would look better if

the teachers puts a cards
to refer to the letters that
they are Arabic letters.
The Arabic letters crafts
would be more useful if
they replace the birds
with other pictures or
crafts that represent the
letter. For example, the
letter (ta) ( )the teacher
can do a craft of a crown
(taj) ( )as it starts with
the letter (ta) ().
The teacher can let the
children do their own
crafts and replace them on
the wall or in the creative
art area.
It will look better if the
children had more space
in the area as this area
only offers two places for
two children.
It would be more useful if
the flash cards were
supported by pictures. For
example adding a picture
of a boy and a girl.

Reflections on Observation Task 1: Environmental Print in the Classroom.

1- The environmental print has a major impact on the children learning abilities
especially on their reading and writing abilities. As it help them to be more aware of
the letters. They can recognize the difference between each letter, regarding to the
shape of the letter or the sound. Also, they can do independent learning by reviewing
the letters sound and tracing the letters with the fingers.
2- In reading we have 3 different levels, the high readers would try to read the whole
word or a sentence rather than making the sound only. For the medium readers, they
can say the sounds correctly, however, they face some difficulties in reading the
whole word but they will read it at the end as they receive help from the teacher. For
the low readers, they would point to the letter and say the sound without actually
reading it until they get help for the teacher or their friends.
