I have always wanted to work for GSK, as I have constantly admired what they do

and it always has been my dream to be part of GSK. I believe GSK has the
capacity to revolutionize my career path and offer me the prospect to develop
my personal skills and technical knowledge while working within a full
manufacturing environment. GSKs rotational graduate programmes provide me
with the opportunity to work with colleagues across the world including linking in
with other graduates globally which improves appreciation of different cultures,
which I truly look forward to. I admire the set of core company values of always
putting patients first, emphasizing on transparency in all operations, act with
integrity and respect for people. GSKs commitment in bringing out the best in
people truly captivates me, and I am very fond with their PULSE Volunteer
Partnership initiative with donations reaching $330million in products and funds.
GSK practices equality and promotes an inclusive environment, which I truly
support. I believe every human being deserve a chance to succeed in life,
regardless of their religion, skin colour and social background. But most
importantly, I chose GSK because all their works have a real positive impact on
the world and on the lives of many people that live in it. I was diagnosed with
asthma since birth, and since then, GSK has always been part of me through one
of their products, the Ventolin Inhaler. Despite the severity of my condition, the
inhaler always kept my asthma under control and I felt safe. Its been 20 years
now, and till today, I always have a GSK Ventolin inhaler with me wherever I go.
GSK has always been very special to me, and it will be an honour to be part of it.

I believe this Engineering Summer Placement will be an ideal stepping stone for
me to gain an insight of the real working world. I have always been very
passionate about chemical engineering due to its increasingly significant role in
our society, particularly across a variety of industries from pharmaceutical to
environmental technology. It is a versatile subject which provides a unique
opportunity to be involved in the development and manufacture of a wide range
of products, an aspect that I look forward to learning about. On the academic
platform, I believe I have portrayed academic excellence through my grades by
scoring a 1st Class in my 1st year. My interest for research skyrocketed after
working on a 3 weeks summer studentship project. I conducted a study on the
rate of adsorption of dyes on different adsorbents. I studied the properties of the
fibrous Snot Apple husk from Africa as an adsorbent and conducted experiments
to compare its adsorbent capacity to activated carbon. I believe I have
developed good analytical skills and gained much experience of working in a
competitive and target driven environment. I have become resilient and able to
take disappointment. I believe I have nurtured these essential traits which are
truly vital in manufacturing and pharmaceutical field. GSKs rotational graduate
programmes offers me the flexibility and the opportunity to gain experience in
various business areas. At GSK, I am impressed by the length of the science and
engineering scheme, which 3 years. This gives me the opportunity to grow and
facilitate my goal to have a long-term career development. I cannot deny the
pharmaceutical industry is a tough and competitive world, but I assure you that I
have what it takes to be part of it
