INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES/ STUDENT OUTCOMES


1. Students will Identify and properly use conjunctions.
2. Students will identify use all parts of speech.

MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Overall Time - 100 minutes
Time Frame 5 minutes to watch Conjunction Schoolhouse Rock.
5 minutes for fill in the blank quiz on the board.
30 minutes for students to play Jeopardy on the SmartBoard. (Tech. 1)
60 minutes to take Parts of Speech test on iPads. (Tech. 2)
STRATEGIES
Teacher led instruction, Independent/group practice, project/inquiry learning.

DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION/ ADAPTATIONS/ INTERVENTIONS


Visual learners these students will benefit from playing Jeopardy.
Auditory learners these students will benefit from listening to the Conjunction Song.
Tactile learners these students will benefit from playing Jeopardy.
Special Needs Options: - these students will benefit from help from an adult and group
work.
PROCEDURES
Introduction/ Lesson Set
To begin, the students will watch the Schoolhouse Rock video.

Body & Transitions


The students will fill in the blanks of sentences written by the teacher with any
conjunction they like.
The students will play jeopardy in 4 groups to review all parts of speech.
Closure The students will take a test on their iPads with the Grammar Express Parts of
Speech app. (Mock Test) and e-mail the screen shot of their scores to the teacher.
ASSESSMENT
Diagnostic: Students will watch the conjunction video. (Objective 1)
Formative: The students will take the fill in the blank test on the board and play the
Jeopardy game. (Objective 1 and 2)
Summative: The students will take the parts of speech test on the iPads. (Objective 2)

EXTENTED ACTIVITIES If Student Finishes Early


If students finish early in class they may play games on all parts of speech.
If Lesson Finishes Early
If the lesson finishes early, the students will write how they will be better writers using the
parts of speech.
If Technology Fails
If technology fails, the teacher will explain conjunctions, have a question and answer review,
and have a paper test written for the students.
