Theme Background
Bhagwad-Gita, the revered holy book has lighted the life path of mankind
umpteenth times. Its wisdom and guiding force never fails to surprise humanity. The
magnetism of Bhagwad-Gita has attracted devotees, sceptics, researchers, common
man alike and its unfathomable knowledge continues to fascinate learners. Gita is
celebrated in the land of Mahabharata Dharamshetre-Kurukshetra and Gita Jayanti
is an important occasion. The annual festivities of this occasion include many
programmes associated with Gita including intellectual deliberations in a seminar.
This seminar is attended by experts who share their researches and writings and
depart to gather again with new inputs. The seminar for the year 2016 is planned at
the International level with the objective(s) of sharing cross cultural works and
provide platform for wider knowledge building. The theme for the seminar is set in
the context of modern times where the learning of Bhagwad-Gita can provide
motivation for holistic life management and world harmony tourism for a blissful
and blessed world.
Organizers
The International Seminar on Bhagavad-Gita: Holistic Life Management and
World Harmony Tourism Motivation, is being organized by Kurukshetra
University from December 7-9, 2016 as part of International Gita Samaroh 2016.
The university started in 1956 with a Sanskrit department has grown in to a
multidisciplinary university. Situated on the western bank of holy tank
Brahmsarovar its 400 acres of serene ambience provide ideal settings for debates,
discussions, free thinking and interdisciplinary learning.
This seminar on Bhagwad-Gita is jointly organized by the Departments of Tourism
and Hotel Management, Sanskrit, Philosophy and Management with the objective of
getting inputs from scholars on Gita from different fields. The valuable knowledge of
experts shall be widely shared to enlighten many hearts and minds and to show the
path of selfless work for the betterment of society.
Theme(s) for Paper
The seminar is divided into six sessions as detailed below. Academic researches,
working papers and other contributions are invited for the technical sessions. A few
subject areas are specified for the sessions but researches working in other
disciplines may also contribute. The theme Bhagwad-Gita cannot be bound in
modern day discipline compartments.

Highlights
Renowned international and national scholars of Bhagwad-Gita will be part
of the seminar and their papers will be published in a book with ISBN
number that will include researches from different subjects and languages.
The proceedings of seminar will be used as direction for future research and
works on Bhagwad-Gita.
The seminar is supported by the Govt. of Haryana and outcomes of
discussions shall provide new ideas and way forward for developing
Kurukshetra tourism as a land of Bhagwad-Gita.

Submission Guidelines
Papers on the suggested themes or related themes can be submitted. Full papers
shall be 3000-5000 words with an abstract of 300 words and shall include name(s)
of author(s), affiliation, postal and e-mail address. Papers can be written in
English/Hindi/Sanskrit and shall be submitted by Nov 8, 2016.
Papers shall follow the style sheets for their respective disciplines as the seminar
technical sessions are coordinated by Dept of Sanskrit, Dept of Tourism and Hotel
