ABSTRAK
ABSTRACT
A smooth traffic is depending on the geometric design of roads and utility route
management, especially on the edge of the road. Geometric design of roads must be
complied with standards set by the Public Works Department (JKR) which Arahan
Teknik Jalan8/86. This standard covered the types of roads, road specifications and
road hierarchy. Meanwhile, the standard of route utility can be referred to the
Planning Guidelines of Route Utilities by Department of Town and Country Planning
(JPBD). However, the guidelines provided just simply references alone because the
placement of the route utilisation in Malaysia has been very discouraging. A variety
of problems that arise as a result of difficulties encountered during the preparation of
the actual site for utility route. Thus, the objective of the study is analysing the
suitability of the utility route on the existing road hierarchy. For achieving the
objectives of the study, methods such as observation and interviews will carry out. As
a result of the problem, a proposal for the improvement of route utility will be as
second objective. Case study is around edge road of Kuantan.
