The two Genres that I focusing on are the rights of the individual.

The right to bear arms

is a must if you dont want to fall victim to or be a statistic of a crime. Being able to and having
the right of protecting yourself and the people you love is a natural law. Self-prevision is your
God given right, you yourself are overall responsible for your safety and those you parent and no
government or civil power can take away natures birthright for self-defenses. This particular
picture illustrates a defenseless child Titled (How much is a life worth?). The picture gives a
brief statement of how society has granted gun laws for the protection of material positions such
as money but that same gun law wont allow you the right to protect your kids. Hypocrites! is
what the first genre is implying. People are in favor of gun control. They don't mind guns to be
used to guard and protect members of Congress, nor do they object to the armed guards at banks.
Apparently protecting the banks money is justifiable then protecting your kids? These same
people object shrilly when a parent wants to protect themselves and their kids by carrying a
firearm. The second genre is a pro-gun control ad Titled (Criminals for gun control) by The
Patriotic Resistance. The ad is designed to be facetious and sarcastic however gets the point
across about how easy crime would be with unarmed citizens. In the 2nd genre it stating facts of
criminals committing crimes. The ad shows a criminal who openly says he is agents armed
citizens because it makes it difficult for him to commit crimes such as (Rape, Robbery, and
Murder) and the message is clear! Criminals dont follow the law but law abiding citizens do. So
take away gun owners rights to make crime easer.

Audience and Purpose Questions

The intended audience is the people, all people for that matter. Both genres are trying to
raise awareness for society to wake up and gain knowledge and truth of what is happening to
your rights. Not just any rights but our 2nd amendment rights. The one right that will protect all of
our other rights, the one right that protects you. Focused on grasping the attention of the young
and the old, Fathers and mothers, male and female both Pro and Anti-gun supporters. They are
trying to encourage general awareness on how your unalienable right that was given to you by
our founding fathers are slowly being taken from you. I fell that both have this hidden message
to focus on your personal safety that you alone are responsible for. Unalienable by definition
means a right not to be transferred or taken away Pro gun or not your right to defend yourself
is being taken away by the government. Dont be okay with what the government or the media
says, when its okay to have a gun and what to accept. What the audience needs to know and be
aware of is that the governments power increases by the ignorance of the people. The more you
know the better educated you are the better off you will be. Dont let them blind you to false
pretense that guns are to be used only for what they say is okay and that defending ones self is
not justifiable. The information is overwhelming powerful. The message is clear and very
precise about what point its trying to make. Both the video and picture signify the importance of
what is happening and how the audience needs to be aware of what is happening and to take
action in changing the outcome of what can and is happening to us. The right to defend yourself
and your home.

Rhetorical Issues: Ethos, Pathos,

and Logos
Some key evidence that both genres pointed out is the fact we see people with guns every
day. Law enforce for example. They open carry to overall protect themselves; yes, they are
entitled to and have the authority to protect you if they can get to you in time. We also see armed
guards protecting the banks money at its location and in transport and yet no one seems to have
any issue with this. We know that the president and elected government officials are protected by
armed personal and we dont question them. Why not? What powers or laws give them more
authorization to protect them and what they own but hinders our rights? The answer is NONE.
And that is the main point of the genres. When you compare the two you will see that both are
focusing the gun control problem and how the government is wanting and trying to take away
your rights to own and carry a gun. Youre right to protect yourself. Contrast to the two is one
focus your attention to arming yourself to defend your kids while the other is stating that if and
while you are armed it makes it much harder to commit crimes, either to you or your property
and is going about it in a sarcastic way but both still getting the overall point across. Each genre
did a good job to evoke the audience by giving them a visual aid for reference. The first genre
had a picture of a scared little girl. Looking helpless and lost, the picture implies how innocent
she is and how the care of a parent is need for her protection. The second genre shows a
mysteries man; his face is hidden unable to identify him. As he is talking you can see him
reloading a magazine as if he is getting ready to comment a crime. You can also see several
other weapons at his disposal. He talks about the crimes and the video flashes pictures of his
victims and how easy it is to commit them when the victim is unarmed. He states he supports
gun control because the only ones that follow the law are not criminals. I think that both genres
give a clear picture of how your rights are being taken from you and how you as a law abiding

Rhetorical Issues: Ethos, Pathos,

and Logos
citizen are falling victim and soon will be pray to those who have no respect for the law. The
genres made the evidence and information clear and unbiased to pro or an anti-gun audience. The
message is clear dont matter who you are, you are affected by this.

Structure and Delivery

Both Genres have uses pictures to capture the message of the audience. One is still
picture and the other is video. The still picture (poster) is limited with what it is putting on it.
Trying not to be overwhelming or to cluttered with lots of words but at the same time give just
the right message with clear words and a good font to catch your attention. Also the poster has an
image to help you relate to the topic and message its trying to get across. It gives your mind the
mental image of the defenseless girl. The video stays on point with the message. keeping you
focused on what the criminal is doing as he narrates how he feels on the subject of gun control.
His face I distorted witch helps gives you the impression it could be anyone and also show you
that you cant put a face to crime. The video shows pictures of crimes that he had committed and
how easy it was to commit them due to an unarmed victim. Both give a powerful message to the
audience. Some similarities of the two genres are the point of gun control. Ones view point is
why cant you protect your family and the other is agents the fact you have that right. A
difference to the two is one has a clear message to you stating facts of our gun laws While the
other mocks the topic and is more of a subliminal message. Although the man in the video is pro
gun control his reason behind it is so he can commit crimes with little worry of him being killed
by his victim. The point its making is if you dont want to be the person killed or raped then
stand for your rights to protect yourself, and the other is stating that if its okay to use guns to
protect objects then why cant it be okay for you to carry a gun to protect you and your loved
ones.

Conclusion/ Synthesis
The genre that was more effective in conveying its message would be the video. It
takes what people ignore and gives it to them in a way that they see the message from a view
point they dont want to be in. No one wants to be the victim and no one wants to be in a position
where they cant protect themselves. If you are for this gun control/ANTI-GUN, then you will be
a statistic of what the criminal on the video was talking about. Watching the video give you a
prospective and opens your eyes that crime is real and its out there. You might not see it
everyday or havent encountered it yourself however, with more gun laws and gun control
measures its very possible that your chances of being the next victim is increasing rapidly.
Criminals dont obey the law. Gun control wont stop them and all the gun laws are doing is
making it harder for law abiding citizens to own, carry and protect themselves
