Welcome to Motor Fest 2008

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our 3rd annual
Motor Fest! Thanks for joining us for a Father’s Day
event designed to celebrate fathers, families and
faith. We hope that today will be a blessing and
encouragement to you as you spend time together
enjoying the music, food, children’s activities
and MOTORS! We hope that through today’s
activities we model the heart of Jesus.
This year’s theme is “Who’s Driving
Your Life?” You may recall a recent hit
by Carrie Underwood titled “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” It’s
a song about a young woman who comes to the end of
herself and recognizes that without Jesus at the wheel
of her life she’s destined for a crash. As a man
and father, I recognize the difficulty we
often have in allowing someone else to
be in control. We like to keep our hands
on the wheel of our lives because we
think we know where we need to go.
But, as Carrie’s song communicates,
when we demand to maintain control
of our lives, they can quickly spiral out of
control and threaten to harm our families as well
as ourselves. Like the average man, I too demanded
to drive my own life for many years and the life crashes

are too many to mention. Thankfully, none of those crashes

Childcare and teaching are available during the 9:15 hour and 10:45 worship service in

During the 9:15 hour, K–4th graders meet in graded classroom groups for Bible W Women Restroom

learning and fun.

K–2nd graders attend the first part of the 10:45 worship service with their families
and then are dismissed through the large black doors at the front of the auditorium
to attend their own age-appropriate children’s church, called KZ Church. Parents, we
encourage you to go with your children the first time they visit KZ Church.
3rd & 4th graders attend the worship service to listen and learn with their families.
Xtreme AM (5th & 6th Grade)
Our preteens meet in their own Xtreme spot, Room 205, at 9:15 for a time of Xtreme
learning, Xtreme prayer and Xtreme relationship-building, then join their families for
the 10:45 worship service.
Youth (Grade 7–12) & Adults
Groups for ADULTS and activities for YOUTH begin at 9:15AM. Stop by
the Welcome Center to find out about each of the groups and how to get there.
Cellular Phones & Pagers
Thank you for turning off, or muting, your cell phone, pager and other electronic
devices during this morning’s worship service.
Assistive Listening Devices
ALS devices are available for check-out at the Resource Center in the foyer.
AED (Automated External Defibrillator)/First-aid
Facilities for guests needing first aid, health counseling, and blood
pressure checks are provided by our Parish Nurses located in the west
hallway in Room 1117, Sundays, 10:30AM–Noon.
Please contact an usher if you need immediate assistance.

Lost items may be reported or claimed at the main office of the church during
regular M-F office hours. Lost and found items are kept for 30 days.

What do they do? Dan
and Jodi are on loan to
Moody Aviation from
Mission Aviation Fel-
lowship. Dan’s goal is to see every Moody Aviation Special-
ist/Pilot Mechanic student taught the skill and given the
knowledge to perform aviation related tasks safely and to the
standard set by aviation missions. Dan spent his formative
years at FFC. He is the son of Bill and Linda Appleby.
Prayer Requests:
• Praise for God’s blessing of safety this year.
• For the 12 students graduating and beginning steps to go
overseas.
• For safe travel back to Iowa June 27-July 21 to visit support-
ing churches, families and friends.
• For the Lord’s provision as they prepare for the trip.
• For their shortfall of $780 in monthly support.
• Funds to upgrade their 10-year old laptop computer to keep
up with their needs.
Boaz & Ruth
Closed Country
What do they do? Boaz and Ruth were born of Muslim fami-
lies in North Africa. They were brought to faith in Christ
through missionaries there. Boaz serves as a radio producer,
presenting programs in Arabic. He conducts training, Bible,
music and worship seminars. Together they visit their home-
land to contact radio listeners and Bible students. Ruth leads
the Bible Correspondence Course ministry.
Prayer Requests:
• For the growth of the national church in-country.
• For the 80 who joined churches to grow and mature in faith.
Six new underground churches were established.
• For their radio, TV and Bible courses to bring more fruit that
glorifies Christ’s name.
• For the summer activities in-country (summer schools,
camps and the music seminar).
• That the new hymns CD (in Arabic) will be printed and in
the hands of listeners in North Africa, the Middle East and
Europe soon.

Location: Iquique, Chile
What do they do? The
Armijos, church planters
with ABWE, established
Missionary Baptist
Church in Puente Alto in 2003. The church now has a na-
tional pastor. The Armijos are currently assisting in a church
plant 1,100 miles north in Iquique. Robyn is the granddaugh-
ter of the late Mel and Shirley Wellen.
Prayer Requests:
• Praises for: safe arrival in Iquique, a home, good health,
good grades and adjustment for Miguel and Natalia’s
first experience in Chilean school, salvation decisions.
• For open-air evangelism on Fridays.
• For youth group on Friday nights.
• Continued church growth.
• Evangelistic trips to interior towns.
• Salvation of Juan, their 87 year old neighbor.
• Continued good health.
Tim & Martha
Closed Country
What do they do? Tim serves in a medical setting with the
goal of making disciples as well as assisting in beginning a
church planting movement among the indigenous population.
They visit local friends, regularly giving out the JESUS film,
DVDs, New Testaments, Bibles or other Scripture portions.
Martha serves as a part-time bookkeeper, visits local women
and is a full time mom.
Prayer Requests:
• For Tim as he meets with patients and looks for spiritual op-
portunities.
• For lasting fruit from the many seeds that are being planted.
• For the Lord to build His church among the B people living
in their area.
• For Martha’s visits with local women--many from the royal
family.
• For their kids’ education—two via the internet.
• For transportation and accommodations for home assign-
ment in the US June 8-August 8. They plan to be at FFC July
19 & 20.
