What preparation is needed? Download of an interactive game matching sizes of shapes

and colors. The children can each have their own turn and feel included.
What materials will be used? SMART board
How will the learning environment be set up? Children sitting on the floor in a group at the
front of the classroom.

Instructional Procedures: (This will be one of the most detailed sections of this
assignment).
Each day this lesson is taught, the teacher will gather all the students to the carpet (Circle time)
and explain the process. Each student has one turn at the SMART board. If it is not your turn, you
have to be sitting down, waiting your turn.

Day 1: The teacher will make a list of the students in the order they take their turn at the SMART
board. They get one move, sort by color or shape.
Day 2: This time, students will describe the shape size and color before taking their turn, using
our vocabulary words. They get to take one of the already sorted shapes out of the collected
area in the game to make others think harder about their next move.

Students can access this site with their parents to practice more language words,
colors and shapes.
Differentiated Instructional Support: Describe how instruction can be differentiated
(changed or altered) to meet the needs of gifted or accelerated students: Have each student pick
a color or shape, and they can only focus on those in the game. If a student chooses purple, they
have to focus on all shapes that are purple. If a student chooses a square, they should aim to
focus on all of the squares in the game, no matter the color.
Discuss additional activities you could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling
with the material:
Make this as a classroom prop. Have the students pick a shape and color, and design
their own game out of foam paper.

Vocabulary: Circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, star, oval. Red,

blue, green, yellow, orange, purple
