Samsung

l Grupo Samsung es el chaebol ms grande de Corea del Sur que goza de gran
reconocimiento a nivel mundial, tambin es lder mundial en diversas ramas de la
industria electrnica; comenz como una compaa exclusivamente de exportaciones
en 1938.

Samsung tiene una inmensa influencia en el desarrollo econmico, polticas, medios y cultura
de Korea del Sur y ha tenido una gran participacin en el "Milagro en el Rio Han".2

Samsung y sus compaias afiliadas producen casi una quinta parte de las exportaciones totales
de Korea del Sur adems y se estima de que los ingresos de Samsung igualan al 17% del PIB total
de Korea del Sur.4

A pesar de ser ms conocida como una empresa electrnica, Samsung participa tambin en la
industria pesada, automotriz, martima, area, servicios financieros, servicios mdicos, seguros de
vida, productos qumicos, venta al pblico, turismo y entretenimiento.

Nokia

Nokia is a leader in the fields of network infrastructure and advanced technologies. Headquartered in
Espoo, Finland, and with operations around the world, Nokia invests in the technologies of the future.
Today, we have two strong businesses: Nokia Networks, our network infrastructure business; and
Nokia Technologies, which is focused on technology development and intellectual property rights
activities. Through these businesses, we have a global presence, employing around 57,000 people.
We are also a major investor in R&D, with investment through our businesses amounting to more than
EUR 2.5 billion in 2014.
In April 2015, Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent announced their intention to combine to create an innovation
leader in next generation technology and services for an IP connected world. The transaction is
expected to close in the first quarter of 2016. At the same time, Nokia also announced a review of
strategic options for its digital mapping and location services business HERE. In August 2015, it was
announced that HERE will continue mapping its future as an independent business. The sale to a
consortium of leading automotive companies was completed on December 4, 2015.
Until recently, Nokia also was a key participant in the mobile devices market through its Devices &
Services business. In September 2013, Nokia announced an agreement with Microsoft whereby it
would sell substantially all of its Devices & Services business to Microsoft. The transaction was
completed on April 25, 2014.
