Teacher Work Sample Reflection

What level (accomplished, proficient or developing) do you believe you have

achieved at this point with regard to each of the standards?
I believe I have reached between an accomplished and proficient level with the
standards. I believe I have achieved this level because I have improved myself as a
teacher and professional, but I still have more room for growth. I had two absences and
a tardy, which I could have tried better to avoid. I do feel that I have grown as a teacher.
I have done my best to improve upon my networking and professional skills. I have
learned a lot about how I should carry myself within my professional setting. I also
believe I have strongly developed my teaching and planning skills. I have learned a lot
about planning and instructional strategies. This will only help me keep improving as a
teacher and professional.
For the standards with which you would rate yourself developing, what do you
believe you need to do to grow in this area?
I believe I need to work on some professional behaviors. I tried my best to be on
time, prompt, and use professional language, however, I can still improve upon it. I
woke up late one day and arrived late. I will have to really work on doing better to make
sure I get up on time in the morning. I will try to do better prepare for my days when I
am student teaching. I can pack my lunches the night before and plan for extra time to
scrape my car when it begins snowing.

What artifacts or evidence could you provide to show growth in developing

standards?
I could provide attendance records as artifacts. I have only missed two classes,
whereas before in 350 I missed more than two classes. I am also working on my
language and interactions. I am working on using a more professional vocabulary so
that I can come across more eloquently. This can be assessed through conversations
with professors and my match up teacher. I think many of my assignments demonstrate
my growth as a teacher as well. They demonstrate my ability to assess data, plan and
deliver a lesson, maintain a leadership role in the classroom, and behave in a
professional manner.
Describe two goals you have for your student teaching semester? How are
these goals aligned with the standards?
One of my goals for my student teaching semester is to make more professional
connections. I would like to get to know many different educators from different
departments as well as administrators. Professional networking is not only important in
a school, but it will also help me when I am applying for a job. This goal aligns with the
standards because it requires me to collaborate and negotiate with different people and
work with other professionals.
My other goal for student teaching is to be even more involved with the kids.
Since I will be with the students since the beginning of the term I will have an easier
time getting to know them as individuals and building relationships with them. This will
allow me to more easily create a classroom climate and culture of respect,
inclusiveness, and an effective learning environment for all students. This is aligned

with many of the standards of teaching. Most standards deal with making sure students
have a safe environment with effective instruction.

What two dispositional areas you feel very comfortable with and
why?
I am very comfortable with planning and delivering lessons. I think I do a pretty
good job of thinking about how I can make the information relatable to my
students and how to engage them in the lesson. I am also very strong at working
in professional communities. I work extremely well with others and try my best to
be a positive influence with everyone I interact with.

What is one dispositional area you want to focus on during your

student teaching semester?
For student teaching I would like to work on professionalism. I really want to do
my best to be punctual and be there every day. I also want to network with other
teachers, administers, and faculty members. I want to try my best to maintain
good, professional relationships with my school so that I will feel comfortable
asking for recommendations, as well as being completely invested in my
teaching role at the school.
