Plant With Purpose Wins 2016 Best Annual Report Award
$50,000 cash prize awarded by Counsel & Capital

SAN DIEGONovember 30, 2016San Diego-based Plant With Purpose won Counsel & Capitals 2016
Best Annual Report Prize, including a $50,000 cash prize. A panel of esteemed judges, including
executive leadership from the Christian Leadership Alliance, Fiduciary Counsel, and Forgiven
Communities, reviewed submissions from Christian nonprofits across the nation. Plant With Purposes
FY2015 Annual Report was selected as the winner based on rigid criteria focusing on the elements of an
effective annual report.

Counsel & Capital is a nonprofit that serves Christians pursuing biblical priorities. Founded in 1998,
Counsel & Capital invigorates Christian ministries and donors by advocating biblically-based principles of
governance and giving. Counsel & Capital focuses on building bridges of confidence between left-brain
dominant donors and Christian ministries. In 2017, Counsel & Capital will award three cash prizes: best
annual report, best letter from the CEO, and most effective focus.

Plant With Purpose, a Christian nonprofit organization founded in 1984, reverses deforestation and
poverty around the world by transforming the lives of the rural poor. More than 32,500 farming families
are literally growing out of poverty through Plant With Purposes innovative program that focuses on
environmental restoration, economic empowerment, and spiritual renewal.

The $50,000 cash award will be used to empower rural farming families in seven countries around the
world. The funds will help Plant With Purpose achieve their annual goals of partnering with more than
32,500 farming families, planting 3.4 million trees, partnering with 89 new churches, and starting 188
new savings-and-loan groups. Specifically, the prize will enable Plant With Purpose to equip 10
community development groups, in turn allowing 250 families restore their land and their lives.
