5. Learning Materials:
Narrative Text
a. Purpose: To amuse or entertain the readers with actual or imaginary
experiences in difference ways.
b. Generic Structure: Orientation, Complication, Resolution.
c. Language Features: use of noun phrases, connectives, adverbial phrases of
time and place, simple past tense, action verbs, saying verbs, thinking
verbs, feeling verbs, and verbs of sense.

Example of narrative text


A Greedy Dog
A dog was feeling very proud of himself.

He had found a big, juicy bone at the market. He
quickly carried it in his mouth and ran off to find
a place to eat it.
He came to a stream which had very clear
water. He started to walk across it, taking his
own sweet time. He was thinking what a

d. Students create discussion groups (maximum 2 people) to complete the
narrative fields in the text given by the teacher in accordance with the past
tense.
e. Students identify the generic structure in narrative text.
f. Students mentioned the characters involved in the narrative text.

g. Students with the group make the chronology of events in each paragraph
in the table that given by the teacher.
h. Students answer questions about the narrative text that has been read.
Closing activity ( 5 minutes)
a. Students ask question that have not been understood in the learning
process.
b. The teacher provides reinforcement of the material that has been given.
c. Teacher closes the lesson.
