Presentation Plan
I.

Introduction
Thank you for joining me today to discuss ways in which we as a team can become

healthier. Studies show that many individuals spend more time on average sitting in a day than
they do sleeping. Did you know that living a sedentary lifestyle can lead to cardiovascular
disease, obesity, and other health risks? In order to combat these issues, I would like to explore
some exercises and healthy shifts we can all make to live a happier and healthier lifestyle that
can be carried from work to home.
II.

Demonstration
First, I would like us all to stand up. We are going to do some breathing and stretching

exercises. We will start by closing our eyes and taking deep and steady breaths for 3 minutes.
Then we will do body curls where we all stand and try to touch our toes and slowly roll our
bodies up to a standing position, inch-by-inch. Now we will watch a video I have prerecorded
that further explains exercises that can be done while at your desk, followed by any questions
you may have or any suggestions.
III.

In-House Exercise Program

In addition to stretching at our desks and other minor exercises, I would like to incorporate a
workout program that is open for everybody to join. I would like to implement a program that is
available before work, during lunch, and after work. The exercises will be low-impact and will
consist of yoga, meditation, walking, light jogging, and a team sport for after work and/or
weekends. I would also like to incorporate healthy diet guidelines that change monthly. This will
serve solely as a guideline that can be used at work or at home and offers recipes, fun facts, and
healthy choices that can be swapped out for unhealthy choices.

IV.

Accommodations
We are a team and I want us to work together to find a happy medium for all of us. I

understand that some individuals may have physical limitations but that does not mean this
program is not for them. Lets say an individual is wheelchair-bound. Many of the exercises
demonstrated in the video can still be utilized such as makeshift free weights and upper body
stretches. In terms of a team sport, if an individual is physically limited, bocce ball is a fun, easy
sport that can be accommodating for many. If this is not applicable, the individual can still
participate but as a referee, scorekeeper, or coach.
V.

Safety
Safety is the most important aspect of these exercises. We want to help strengthen our

bodies, not hurt them! In order to achieve this, we will always start every exercise program
with breathing and stretching. We will also have frequent water and rest breaks as not to
overexert our bodies. If at any time an exercise becomes too difficult or an individual feels
uncomfortable, the individual can stop at any time and/or relax in childs pose or sit down.

Reflection
I believe this presentation was very successful. Overall, I engaged the audience and kept
the presentation concise but informative. The introduction was a highlight because I started the
presentation with the process I wish to incorporate in the daily work exercises and activities- by
doing breathing exercises and stretches. This hooked the audience and drew them in. What went

particularly well was the engagement level of me audience. It was useful that I took time to
check in with my audience to see how they were grasping the information, how they felt about it,
and if they had any questions.
In the future, I would like to incorporate more data into the presentation. However, I
believe the amount of data used did not overwhelm the audience because that might have caused
them to lose interest. But I still believe a bit more data would have been beneficial. My mentor
also agreed that a bit more data would be beneficial in the future. I agree with her statement in
that it is not necessarily the amount of data included in the presentation, but how effective the
data is. My mentor also would have liked to see a sample of meal guidelines.
In terms of managing behavior, the audience was engaged and eager to learn more about
the activities planned. There were no instances of inappropriate behavior. I believe because it
was a small group, I was able to focus on each member individually and ensure I had each
members full and undivided attention. Part of this is due to the movement during the
presentation. By moving across the floor, I kept the audience engaged and interested. The
audience also was very cooperative when participating in the activity. They were apprehensive at
first but after a few seconds, everyone was on board.
