Reflection
I had a higher expectation of what my read aloud was going to be than it actually was. I went into it feeling very confident with the
lesson plan I had come up with. I took into account all the questions students might ask related to the text and all of the questions I should
have prepared for them. Maybe I was too focused on the lesson plan that I failed to acknowledge all of the distraction that were occurring

right in front of my eyes.

My students were completely off task. Three girls were in a line playing with each others hair, two boys had their legs on desks,
and a girl had her face covered in her jacket. The worse part of it is that this went on for the entire read aloud and I never once stopped to
redirect the class. Although I scanned the room many times, I did not even notice this going on.
Im so happy that this happened to me because I have learned the most important lesson of my internship yet. That is, you can have
the best lesson plan in the world but if you are not in touch with your students it will not be successful. I was focusing on progressing with
the lesson plan and was failing to redirect the students who were on task. Meanwhile, my students were not able to learn from the lesson
that I had planned.
After talking with my supervisor I came to the conclusion that I need to be more observant of my students and what they are doing.
If I feel that they are not on task, it is totally appropriate to stop what Im doing until they focus. Saying things such as Ill wait until I
have everyones attention can redirect every student without having to single anyone out. I also learned that its okay if the lesson does not
go totally as planned that I have to be on my feet at all times and able to be flexible!
