Why do you think your organisation deserves to win this award?

(300 words)
Since the beginning, our aim was to create a singular type of accommodation focused on the
Inclusive Tourism , not only for travelers with reduced mobility, more precisely to all people
whom are welcome as customers and guests.
If the think in all people around the world, there are millions of them with disabilities or reduced
mobility which are unable to travel due to a lack of facilities. Even more, because of the
demographic change in many countries and the growing desire of the elderly to travel, we believe
that this kind of tourism will increase significantly in the next years , that is why we have decided
to put all of our effort to make a fully accesible and adapted hotel for eveyone (attached 1,2, 3)
We have developped a universal concept where any type of appartment or common area is
created specifically for disabled persons, actually it works for everybody , meaning disabled and
non disabled as we think that it should not exist any exclusion for special needs .
The key matter is the common sense to study every detail of our inclusive design which of
course meets the required regulations and specifications but most important, being not
noticeable. We have been assisted by the ONCE Foundation and PREDIF, the most important
organisations in terms of accesibility, and after a tough work together, we are very satisfied with
the universal concept created : RuralSuite Hotel -Appartments **** (attached 4 and 5 )
We have became a reference in our community, Navarra, as one year after our opening, the
Navarra Chamber of Commerce and Industry, awarded us with the Award for Global Accessibility
for the year 2011 (attached 6 )
We do also run an Active Tourism company and we organise all kind of activities, including guided
quad bikes and 4x4 adapted tours. All quads are automatic and they can be driven by people with
different level of disability in motor skills , even blind people can be seaten with our guide in a
double quad and he will help to evoque the nature feelings. We also have a bike adapted to
wheelchair, model bike huka duet and guests can easily ride on the green path located next to the
hotel (attached 7,8 and 9)

First, I think that It is important to mention that our hotel is part of NATIVE charming hotels and
accesible tourism , an alliance of hotels that promotes total accesibility . This alliance has been
awarded with the silver trophy on 2014 . We are very proud to form part of this organisation since
their beginning and as you will see in the letter attached of his founder , Mr Pablo Ramn, who has
a long experience in accesibility , he says that RuralSuite is the most accesible hotel in Spain
(attached 10). Due to our partnership with Native, we will be the fist hotel in Sapin to offer a
complete Inclusite tool to provide access to our hotel information without viewing the screen,
without touching the keyboard and without talking to the computer. People can simply blow on
the microphone of their headphones. An innovative system taht will allow navigation even to a
blind, mute and hands motionless user.
Second, We know that the level of detail required by a person with a disability is really important
and that is why we have created an exhaustive list of services and requirements in order to satisfy
all their needs, for instance :
Suites-appartments (general premises ) (attached 11,12,13,14)

All suites are located at street level, so there is no need of ramps or stairs to get into the
suites. (except suite one, which has a small ramp)
The room doors have a minimum width of 80 cm and all the cabinet doors which separate
for instance the living room to the kitchen, are sliding
All rods for hanging clothes are at a height of 140 cm.
All shutters are electric and control mechanisms are situated at a height of 90 cm , very
accessible.
Each suite has a bell with light signal for the hearing impaired.
There is a large free space at a side of the bed and also clear space under it
There is one suite with permanent Braille labeling .We have the possibility to arrange the
other ones on demand

Bathrooms (attached 15)

Showers are at ground level and with handrail

All bathrooms have an alarm system connected to your reception and the owners. It also
sounds simultaneously in the living room of each suite
Toilet seats are suspended at 47cm and its height is 70 cm. Handrails are fixed and well
located
There is a clear and wide space in front and next to the Toilet
We have designed wide Spaces to the various elements necessary to transfer and perform a
360 in a wheelchair
Height from the floor to the base of the mirror is 90 cm
We also have shower chairs available
Accessories and control mechanisms to a maximum height of 120 cm

Kitchens (attached 16)

We have developped a kitchen system that allows a fast and easy removal of the furniture
under the induction cooktop and sink allowing wheelchairs approach with a width of 80
cm.
All space in the kitchen is accesible : any cupboard is situated in a high position , turning
space, position of the electric plugs, etc..

Common areas
All common areas has been also taken into account, speacially in all referred to paths and acceses ,
as there is a gentle ramped acces to the swimming pool, parking and restaurant and most
important, an obstacle-free environment. There are also permanent braille labeling in areas like
reception and restaurant

In the solarium area, situated at ground level and offering nice views over Moncayo Hill,
there is an outdoor jacuzzi up to 7 persons. We do have a pool crane that alows people
with reduced mobility to get in/out of the jacuzzi. The surface around it meets the UN,
slipperiness class 2 (attached 17)

Regarding the bar and cafeteria, both toilets are fully adapted. (attached 18)Moreover, it offers.

An Accesible entry and a clear way to the tables

All tables, including the outdoor terrace can accommodate wheelchairs and they can roll
under them

About the parking space, guest can park in front of each appartment but we also have an outdoor
covered parking with 6 reserved places for disabled people that fulfil all required layouts, signing,
and pavement marking standards for accessible parking places. (attached 19)
Finally of all, I would say that even we have taken special attention to all facilities offered for
disabled people, our room' and common areas design is an universal design being the special
facilities offered not noticeable , as I said in the beginning : a hotel for eveyone
Please give us a brief overview of your accommodation where it is located, how it caters for
visitors with disabilities, numbers of visitors with and without disabilities, your aims and
objectives etc. (600 words)
Hotel location: we are located in the surroundings of a small village named Cascante, in the
community of Navarre, Spain.
Navarre is located in the north of Spain and it covers around 10,500km2. It is made up of four
main areas: the Pyrenees, the Pamplona basin, the Central Zone and La Ribera, the southern area
along the Ebro valley, that' s where we are located
Our charming hotel is situated Cascante, in a private state that sizes 25,000sq meters, fully fenced,
adapted and accesible, the place where we also live, an inviting natural surrounding very quiet,

with many olive and pine trees.

We are located next to Tudela, the main city of La Ribera and the second most important in
Navarre where client can enjoy culture, shooping, gastronomy and entertainment. We can easily
organise a guided pintxos tour where we will combine the history and the gastronomy to enjoy
some delightful shot and cold spanish appetizers, in accesible places.
It is important to mention that we are situated vey close to the Natural Park of Bardenas Reales,
declared a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco , an astonishing semi-desert landscape that covers
42,500 hectares. We also organise all kind of activities to get to know the history of this unique and
characteristic landscape with an abrupt relief, full of ravines, plains and mesa-shaped highs
cabezos with original shapes due to the continuous erosion.
Next to The natural park of Bardena Reales, we can find another important attraction of the area :
Senda Viva theme park , a singular place that offers a perfect combination of entertainment,
nature and adventure for the whole family and most important, it was the first theme park in Spain
to get the recognisition of a fully accessible park
We take special care for visitors with disabilities and we' ve already organized several events for
organisations related to accesibility , for instance :
Famtryp Navarra Inclusiva. We' ve decided to present our region, Navarra, as a fully
accesible destination so we had elaborated a program to discover the richness of our
heritage by visiting some of the most representative tourist spots with people with
wheelchairs and different level of disabilities, for instance: A visit to Natural Park of
BArdenas Reales, also a cultural visit to Tudela and some of its major tourist spots like : the
cathedral , the Casa del Almirante, a kayak trip on the Ebro river. We have visted also
Pamplona, where we have enjoyed the historic center and a singular encierro 2,0 and we
have even enjoyed the beautiful landscapes in the norther area , at the Embalse de
Lertza (attached 20,21,22)
We have been the headquarters for some Spanish teams representing their communities at
the National Championship of Boccia, a precision ball sport more related to bowls and
ptanque played by athletes with more severe physical disabilities (attached 22)
We are members and we do have a steady cooperation with organisations like Amimet,
founded by persons with disabilities. This organisation use to book our hotel for their
groups, accomodating around 15-20 people with wheelchairs and different level of motor
skills disabilities.
Our objective is to become a reference in Spain and why not, around the world, for people with
disability as we do not believe the tale that disabled people travel far less than the general
population . We think that there is an important market place for Inclusive Tourism and most
important, we do offer all required facilities without excluding or separating travelers, an universal
concept fully adapted and accesible for everyone

Do you have any specific policies that relate to accessibility and/or responsible tourism? Yes/No.
We do not believe in specific policies related to accesibility as we do prefer to take special care for
each guest , disabled or nor disabled, as any exclusion should exist. We always ask and pay
attention to the special needs of each customer, again, disabled or non disabled, not only for
accomodation, also for activities. We consider that each case is different and that every customer
requires different attention depending on their requirements.
Regarding the Responsible Tourism, weve been recognised for our responsible tourism practices
through EDER Committee. Our aim is to make positive contributions to conserve natural and
cultural heritage, and of course, minimise environmental and social impacts. (attached 23,24,25)
