From the Pastor

I remember my dad saying one time that he did not 'order' me or

my siblings to do things but was simply 'asking' us to do things
because there were things that needed to be done. I know that does
not fit the definition of mercy but it was his way of letting us know
that his love for us was more than just giving us what we needed.

The readings this weekend can be used to show the mercy of this
God who loves us as we hear about a time when enemies will be
together and the appearance of a judge who sees more than we can
see with our eyes. That is why Jesus in the gospel is able to 'see' that
the Pharisees and Sadducees had an attitude of superiority. As we
continue in this season of waiting, may we
all be touched by the mercy of God in our
attitude with others. We ask that our
conversations and celebrations reflect the
coming of the One who lived mercy here
with us. In our waiting and preparing, we
too want to reflect that mercy.

Pastor: Fr. Floyd McKinney

The year of mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis ended on

November 20; that does not mean that we forget about being
merciful or the mercy of God either. The Latin word for mercy is
misericordia. It means we let our heart (cor) be touched by the suffering
(miseria) of another. During this Advent season we are preparing for
our celebration of Christ coming in time because He was touched
by the suffering of our sins. He is the Son of the compassionate God
who gives us all we need.

gift this year to support our priests.
