because Aung San Suu Kyi was in house arrest. Alexanders speech has to do with the
Acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize Aung San Suu Kyi won.

This primary source is an interview of Aung San Suu Kyi. She talks about her house
arrest, her general likings, and how a lot of people are helping with the democracy
movement. Aung San Suu Kyi talked about when she went through house arrest she
never went through a transition. She just was not able to compromise with anyone
because there was barely any dialogue given to her.

From this website, I found out that Aung San Suu Kyi claimed victory for every seat in
four states where results of Myanmars historic parliamentary election were known,
signaling a sweep that could give it the presidency and further loosen the militarys
stronghold.
