IS IT

ALL
IN
YOUR
MIND?

I have five words for you unbelievers and those who believe
in God but are not sure how he feels about them: It's all in
your mind! God says that it's your mind that's holding you
back from what he wants to give you! Here is his divine
diagnosis:

"And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your

mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled." (Col.
1:21). Notice what these words that God inspired Paul to
write DO NOT say; they don't say you were sometime
alienated and enemies from God by your wicked works. They
say that you were sometime alienated and enemies IN YOUR
MIND by wicked works! What's the difference? 2 Corinthians
5:18-19 declares, "And all things are of God, who hath
reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us
the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of
reconciliation."

God is no longer "mad" at us because of our wicked works

because his Son, Jesus Christ, paid for those works with his
own blood to God's eternal satisfaction. But our fleshly mind
tries to convince us that it's the bad things we've done that
keep us from getting God's approval and blessing. The
doctrine God gave to us through our apostle, Paul, reassures
us that God is not alienated from us, but has reconciled
himself to us by his Son. That's the first fact we must accept
in order to reconcile OURSELVES to God by trusting in the
Lord Jesus Christ, that that's just what he did! When we do,
we're completely reconciled to God both ways: him to us and
us to him. The other goal we find in Paul's doctrine is that we
"be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Rom. 12:2). By
reading, studying, and applying (with the help of the Holy
Spirit) Paul's doctrines, our minds will be gradually
conformed to the mind of Christ and not keep straying back to
the fleshly mind that not only lived in fear of God's
disapproval, but kept adding on more wicked works to keep
the vicious circle turning.
End time prophecy, Old Testament Bible stories, tracing
Paul's missionary journies: these are commendable and are
there for our "learning," but this is the job description of an
ambassador for Jesus Christ: to make known to all that God
was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not imputing
their sins unto them ever again; and to plead with unbelievers
and discouraged "believers", "We pray you in Christ's stead,
be ye reconciled to God"! (2 Cor. 5:20).

SOFTLY AND TENDERLY

Click for music!
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He's waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.
Come home, come home, You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

P. S. For an interesting look at Paul's inspired emphasis on the

importance of our minds - and the "mind of Christ," take a
look at this list of scriptures from his epistles using the word,
"mind." It's not our emotions God is interested in; they're all
over the charts! Doctrine should drive our minds, which in
turn should control our emotions. That's how we follow Paul
as he follows Christ. I wish I could say that that's how it
always works for me, but I can't. I wish I could say that that's
how it always works for me, but I can't (Php. 3:12).
