Configure Distributed Monitor Email-Home Webex Remote Access

.1

Overview
These procedures describe how to configure a new instance of Distributed Monitor Email-Home
Webex Remote Access solution. Distributed email-home from the storage system with Webex Remote
Access requires a Windows client workstation in the customers network environment that has network
access to the monitored storage system, internet, and Webex.
In this procedure you will perform the following steps.
Configure and apply the call home template to Navisphere/Unisphere Storage Processor A & B
monitoring agent.
Perform a test connect home from the storage system.

Management Workstation Environment and System Requirements:

Supported Windows Operating systems:
Windows XP Professional with SP3 (32 and 64 bit)
Windows Vista with SP2 (32 and 64 bit)
Windows Server 2003 with SP2 (32 and 64 bit)
Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2 (32 and 64 bit)
Windows Server 2008 with SP2 (32 and 64 bit)
VMWare ESX/vSphere 4.0, 3.5, 3.0 and 3i (above versions are supported guest OS)
Microsoft Hyper-V Guest OS Windows Server 2003 with SP2 (32 and 64 bit)
Intel-compatible PC 2 GHz CPU or greater with 2 GB of RAM or greater and 1000 MB of free disk
space.
Network Interface Controller.
US Keyboard and pointing device.
A TCP/IP network connection to SP A and B for all CX/CX3/CX4/AX4-5 Series storage systems you
will be monitoring and managing.
IPV6 Support
Concurrent IPV4 and IPV6 addresses, only IPV4 address is supported
ESRS IP CC. ESRS IP Client is fully compatible with JRE 1.6.0_18. However, EMC suggests that
you use the latest JRE 1.6.0_xx build because earlier versions of the JRE have performance and
security issues. Optimally other JREs should be uninstalled, and only one JRE should be installed
on the station running the CLARalert Suite.
For optimal UI performance, EMC recommends that the memory limit allocated to the JRE be
increased. The default size of 64 MB is often too small and may result in Out of memory errors.
To set the memory size, from the Start menu in Windows, select Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click the Java Plugin icon. Select the Advanced or Java tab. In the Java Runtime
Parameters, enter either of the following:
Xmx128m

or
Xmx256m

or
Xmx512m

The argument specifies the maximum memory.

Typically, about 1/2 the size of your overall workstation's memory is recommended as the maximum
memory value. For instance, if your workstation has 1G memory, then use -Xmx512m for the JRE
runtime parameter. If your workstation has 2G or more memory, you can adjust the max JRE
memory as needed to avoid running out of Java memory and possibly improving overall
performance.
Additionally, the Java 6 JRE includes performance enhancements that provide increased UI
performance when running the Navisphere/Unisphere UI.
Web browser software, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 and Firefox 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 or 3.0.
SMTP gateway mail server in the customers network environment that can relay the email-home
message to EMC.
Windows client workstation has Internet connectivity.
The following ports are open in the customers network environment:
Navisphere/Unisphere Manager/Secure CLI TCP ports 80 and 443
Navisphere/Unisphere CLI TCP port 6389
Storage system SP management ports TCP port 25
EMCRemote Client TCP port 5414
Remotely Anywhere (R29 or higher CX4 storage systems) TCP port 9519
Remote Diagnostic Agent TCP port 60020
Note: New installs of Windows operating systems have the Windows firewall enabled. Before
performing this procedure have the customer verify that the firewall is disabled or configured to allow
the above ports.

Supported CLARiiON Storage Systems

All CX/CX3/CX4 series and AX4-5 series with Navisphere/Unisphere Manager

Software Requirements:
Latest release Call Home Template.
CX4 Series strorage systems running FLARE R29 less than patch 006 you must use the 6.29.1
Call-Home Template package.
Note: Download the latest release call home template file from the GS or Partners web sites.
IMPORTANT: CSI Requirements: All monitored storage systems must be installed and connection
records created for each storage system in CSI before performing this procedure.
