Brooklyn Author and Abuse Survivor Releases New Book "Today I See the

Sunrise: Daily Meditations for Survivors of Torture and Abuse"

Brooklyn, NY, December 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Julie A. Cipolla, a Brooklyn author, inspirational writer
and abuse survivor, releases her first book of daily meditations for survivors, Today I See the Sunrise,
based on what she has learned about how to heal from the legacies of torture and abuse.
With the Winter holidays approaching, survivors of torture and abuse may feel even more isolated,
perhaps from their families of origin where the abuse took place such as victims of domestic or partner
abuse or child abuse. This may be a sad time of year for others like service members with PTSD, victims
of torture in declared and undeclared wars and forced conscription, victims of sexual abuse and slavery,
victims of unjust labor practices and genocide who may feel more alone at a time when the rest of the
world is celebrating. These wounded survivors may be interested in reading Today I See the Sunrise:
Daily Meditations for Survivors of Torture and Abuse, the new book from Brooklyn author Julie A.
Cipolla. The book is based upon her own experiences having survived childhood torture, abuse, neglect
and finally abandonment. She has found a way to forgive and has written the book to help the next
survivor find courage and meaning in his or her suffering. This book is not about retribution, but about
recognizing our individual and collective suffering. Once we become able to cherish and hold sacred our
own and each others' broken hearts, we stand to face our perpetrators as Survivors - we learn that we are
stronger because of our experiences. And perhaps we also learn to forgive. . . .
Julie A. Cipolla enjoys residing in her warm and cozy one-room castle in Park Slope, Brooklyn, in New
York City.
