Social

Running head: CURRICULUM MAP

Title: Communication with Peers

Objective: During this activity children will learn to work and collaborate together on various
activities. They will know the benefits of playing with their peers instead of being on Social
Media. This will have health benefits for their mind and body.
Nutritional
Title: Benefits of Healthy Eating
Objective: This activity will help parents understand how beneficial it is not to feed your children
sugary and fatty food especially before they go to bed. We will have a presentation to show them
what they should be eating. Healthy eating truly does contribute to a healthy sleep routine and
improves cognitive functioning for academics.

Spiritual
Title: Meditation for the Mind
Objective: For this activity we will show children and parents strategies that they can use at
home when they arent able to go to sleep right away. By mediating and using breathing strategie
to help relax their mind and get a better nights rest.
Emotional
Title: Emotion Identification
Objective: This activity provides video scenarios of different age groups, feeling one way and
how to cope with and overcome this/these feelings. This activity helps students of all ages
understand and utilize new strategies to help one another become an emotion-managed
individual, which decreases stress and enables a clear mind and good nights rest.
Physical
Title: Intermareal Games/Open Gym
Objective: Students will engage in playing activities with each other for example basketball,
volleyball, etc. Exercise is vital and encouraged in promoting a good nights rest and cognitive
functioning.
Intellectual
Title: Sleep and Intellect Comparison
Objective: This activity is for the families to work on together. Its initially a chart where they
can track the average amount of sleep a night per report card, and the academic achievement
and/or feedback in school the students get. This helps students realize that the amount of sleep
truly does have an impact on overall academic achievement in school.

Reflection
At Sleep Buddies we strive to work together with the community in order to help families
achieve a better night's rest. By working together to achieve this goal we help parents develop
new strategies so they are better equipped to help their child get a well rested night. This will
help their child function better at school and get better grades as well. We are focusing on Social,
Nutritional, Physical, Spiritual, Intellectual, and Emotional to really ensure that the child is
healthy in all of these areas in order to achieve proper sleep every night. We have created
monthly activities that you and your child will be able to attend and participate in. Each month is
a different activity and entails a new skill that they will learn so they are able to understand how
beneficial sleep is for you mind and body. Though we focus on a new skillset and strategies each
month, we hope that by the end of the school year they are able to implement all strategies in a
balanced manner into their daily schedules to achieve healthy amounts of sleep and behaviors,
promoting academic success.
