Procedures/Activities/Explanations:

Instrument assembly and identify the different parts.

Setup (mini instrument)

Get reed ready

Get mouthpiece ready (cork grease)

Put mouthpiece and barrel together

Place reed on the mouthpiece (reed should be in the middle)

Put on Ligature (screws should be on right side)

Students check each others setup

Lower joint in left hand

Hold side with less keys/with the keys facing you

Put on bell with right hand

Top joint in right hand

Thumb on middle key to raise the bridge key

Tenons connect the instrument (where the cork is)

Mouthpiece/reed care and placement; Embouchure and Aperture formation.

Draw line on reed using a piece of paper.
