SUBJECT: Representation of Latinos in the Media

For the semester topic I chose to talk about representation of Latinos in the media because good
representation on media of cultures/minorities is needed in order for other people to learn about these
and also so we can finally discard stereotypes.
This topic relates to rhetoric and discourse because this issue of poorly representation is happening
mainly through newspapers and in social media. The purpose of talking about this issue for this activity
is to illustrate people with the truth about how Latinos really are, and the audience would be for the
people who are not a part of the community and also for some Latinos who would want to read more
about the issue. For my argument to be strong, I need to provide sources that show the problem, as well
as credible sources that support my argument on how Latinos truly are, like interviews, documentaries,
so I can incorporate the Ethos and Logos part of the rhetorical triangle, and with my narrative I hope to
provide the Pathos needed. This issue needs to be addressed because Latinos tend to get misrepresented
in the mediums listed above by getting called criminals, uneducated, dangerous, poor, and women tend
to get praised only by their sexual appeal instead of other qualities, and it is time for that to change
because its not only upsetting but damaging for the members who are part of this community.
