9/3/2016
This was my first day on the site, we had a staff meeting, where we went
around the table getting to know everyone that were completing the
internship as well, we introduced ourselves by name, major, and school we
were attending, there were about 14 members in program two one being
myself attended Kent State and were communication majors while the other
12 members attended Cleveland State University and were Social Work
majors. We discussed our roles in the program and our job duties as well.

Completed CPR/ FIRST Aid training, this was a 3-hour training, I learned how
to completed first aid and CPR training on infants, young adults, and adults.
Remaining hours included demonstration among the group.

Completed substance abuse training this was a 3-hour training, I learned how
to identify with individuals that were abusing substances, marijuana, alcohol,
cigarettes, as well as the correct approaches. Remaining hours included
demonstration among the group.

Completed sexual harassment training, 3-hour training, I learned how to
identify sexual harassment in the workplace, how to avoid it, and who to tell
when you feel you are being sexually harassed remaining hours included
demonstration among the group.,

Diversity training, 3-hour training, there are always going to be a diverse
work environment, racial slurs is always being thrown around as well as
stereotypes and derogatory comments, this training assisted with avoiding
saying the wrong thing. remaining hours included demonstration among the
group.

Office safety training 3-hour training, on the job spills, if I see a spill make
sure to put a caution a sign down, make custodial aware so that they can
attend to the situation, remaining hours included demonstration among the
group.

discriminating against an individual

Infectious disease training 3-hour training, learning causes health issues,
how diseases spread, remaining hours included demonstration among the

Chemical dependency training 3-hour training, individuals depending on
substances remaining hours included demonstration among the group.

Fetal Alcohol disorders, 3-hour training learning how damaging drinking while
pregnant can be detrimental to the fetus, a certain amount of alcohol
consumption can cause brain damage. Next hours spent discussing
examples, looking up examples of mothers that dealt with fetal disorders and
children that had fetal disorders.

Ethics 6-hour training, ethical approaches in the workplace and non-ethical
approaches, as well as in healthcare environments

Conducted a meeting with the other members to evaluate the current
programs offered, I discusses how I believed that our program Youth Writers
Club we should take the children to book clubs and let them sit with authors,
as well as have authors analyze the work of the children, just to help them
better their writing.

We held relay games, where the children had to go through 4 different
obstacles, first being writing a 4 sentence paragraph the quickest, solving
two math equations, finding the book marked with an X in the bookshelves,
and drawing an image the quickest.

Children service from 9-5, sitting with children and teaching them to read,
write, and tell time. Daily activities to challenge the mind, scavenger hunts
where the children had to find the correct answer based off clues, time
telling games, children used toy clocks and were asked to display the time on
the clocks.

Held a spelling bee for the children, they had to spell out 20 words and
whoever finished the quickest could choose the movie to watch for the day
and take home a bag of chips and a juice.

Meeting discussing our progress with our tasks where everyone was at with
their tasks and any issues we are running into. Canvassing for Hilary Clinton
around East Cleveland, Ohio

Children dressed up as their favorite superhero and recorded their own
movies, starring each other, they created their own plots and wrote the
storyline.

We discussed as a group how the activities provided daily can help children
overall, we discussed how the activities implemented, improved the reading,
math skills, and writing. We compared report cards provided by the parents
to show the difference in one semester

Promotional video created describing eight reasons to get kids involved in
after-school activities.

Promotional video created to promote Girls Who Code program which starts
enrollment in January 2017, this video is being shown to facilitators.

Created a consumer satisfaction for use in multiple programs, the survey is


used to evaluate effectiveness of the programs and what ways we can
improve the program
