IDENTIFICATION BACTERIA ON THE WATER IN HUMIDIFIER TUBE AT INTENSIF

CARE ROOM OF DR. M. DJAMIL COMMON CENTER HOSPITAL PADANG

Contaminated water in humidifier tube can cause nosocomial infection. According to
WHO, prevalence of nosocomial infection higher in the intensive care room, ward surgical,
and orthopedic. Data from Dr. M. Djamil Common Center Hospital in 2014 find any
contamination bacteria on water in humidifier tube in CVCU. This research held to know
contaminated water in humidifier tube at intensif care room of Dr. M. Djamil Common
Center Hospital Padang in 2014.
This type of research is a descriptive studies, it was held around September to
November 2015. Population in this research were all of humidifier tube at intensif care room
that fulfill inclusion criteria. The sample taken by Total Sampling technique and get the
amount of sample is 31 tube. Sample processed at Microbiologi Laboratory of Medical
Faculty of Andalas University to do identification.
The result of this research find contamination in 21 humidifier tube (67,74%) that are
2 tube in CVCU room, 7 tube in HCU surgery room, and 12 tube in HCU interne room. From
the tube that contaminated find some of bacteria species, that are Pseudomonas sp. (9,52%),
Enterobacter sp. (4,76%). This result showed that there still high contamination of bacteria
on water in humidifier tube at intensif care oom of Dr. M. Djamil Common Center Hospital
Padang.
